Port Orleans Riverside & French Quarter are two of Disney’s hotels that are classed as moderate hotels.  They are both themed to look like the Old South or New Orleans to be precise.

Both hotels are located in the Downtown Disney Area

Port Orleans Riverside was designed to look like the south along the Mississippi River before the Civil War. The resort opened on February 2nd 1992 and was then known as Disney’s Dixie Landings Resort with rooms located in the area known as Alligator Bayou, shortly after the remaining area called Magnolia Bend was opened.

The 2 resort hotels are connected to each other and Downtown Disney via the Sassagoula River

In the beginning of March 2001 the roads signs and other theming were changed to reflect that Disney’s Port Orleans Resort and Disney’s Dixie Landings Resort properties becoming a merged Disney’s Port Orleans Resort

On April 1st 2001 the Disney’s Port Orleans Resort became known as Port Orleans French Quarter and Disney’s Dixie Landings Resort became known as Port Orleans Riverside.
