We have booked our car through Virgin (Dollar) and have been allocated an intermediate 4 door (Dodge Stratus or similiar)
Is this going to be big enough to transport 2 adults and 2 children (in car seats) with 4 normal size suitcases + hand luggage?
I'm getting a bit confused as to the size of the cars available and it seems pretty expensive to upgrade to a bigger model.

I am totally no good with cars and their names etc but, this is what we got from Dollar when we booked an intermediate.....probably doesn't help at all

Hi I think you may have to upgrade to get all that luggage in at least to a full size as you will not get 4 suitcases in an intermediate car's boot. Sorry!

You may indeed be hard pressed to get everything into a Status. We have a similar sized car in our Chrysler Sebring and there is no way I could be 4 suitcases into the trunk.

The next size up (Full Size) is a Dodge Magnum or similiar. Would that do or should I be looking at a 7 seater?

Simon we had an intermediate four door and we managed with all our luggage - and you know how much we take! We did have it all in the back and on the kids laps etc so not ideal though.

If your children are very small then you may be ok so long as you can get some of your luggage on the rear seat [or the front seat if one of you could squeeze into the back seat along with your children].
It may be a bit uncomfortable, but it`s only for the journey to and from the airport. Once you have ditched your luggage then you`ll be fine.
It may be worth checking this out when you arrive and then decide whether or not to get a larger vehicle.

The Dodge Magnum should certainly be big enough. It is more like a station wagon and has room behind the seats for your luggage.

The woman at the dollar desk laughed when she saw all our luggage and told us we would be back to upgrade when we tried to fit it all in! We managed - bit uncomfortable but only for the airport and back
