Less than 24 hours!!!! :bounce: :bounce: :bounce:

The kids are still sleeping, they were up late last night charging ipods and deciding which books to bring on the plane. I'm doing a bit of packing...Jon brought me a Dunkin Donuts iced coffee this morning so I'm running on high this morning. Ten a.m. training session with Cliff today, so I guess that's a good thing!

I introduced Baleigh to the MAGIC of the "clothes shaver" last night :) You know those little handheld thingies that shave off all the little "pills" that form on clothes? Yep, that's the thingie. She thinks I'm the smartest person in the world now...and her favorite shirt looks brand new :)

On some level, I feel like I'm not packing as much *stuff* as I typically do. I keep looking around wondering if I'm forgetting something, but everything *seems* to be here...including the FOUR pairs of ears Baleigh INSISTS on bringing with her  Seriously? She only has ONE head.

AND she's been bitten by the pin bug yet again, so most of her evening last night was spent sorting through the HUNDREDS of pins that had been tucked away in our Disney box for the past few years, she even roped Andrew into it. In the end, she discovered it would be harder than she thought to find ones she'd be willing to trade. She finally wandered into my room and asked me to come sit with her for a few minutes and help her decide. Just on the verge of saying, "Seriously? No. Are you kidding me? Our bags aren't even packed!!" I somehow managed to remember that this was OUR vacation and the very reason we were taking it was staring me in the face and asking me to spend a few minutes with her. So I put the clothes shaver down and followed her into the dining room which was now more of a land mine. We sifted through years of pins. It was like a time line of my children's life...from Baleigh's princess phase to her Tinkerbell obsession, to her Hannah Montana/Kim Possible years. Then there were Andrew's...Diamond Horseshoe Saloon, Stitch, Pirates. They were all there, reminding me just how quickly the years go by, and how blessed I've been to be able to give them something I never had. There were also pins from friends over the years. I was truly amazed by how they could both recall exactly who had given them each one. We finally carved out a few they were willing to part with, and we picked them all back up and packed them away. I went back to my packing smiling and happy to be reminded just what it is I am packing for. Even Pal Mickey is making an appearance this trip.

So, things are in a suitcase. I've planned a trip to Target this morning after the gym to pick up the last few items...the house is clean...and I've got a mani/pedi appointment this afternoon.

Because *I* am going to Disney World with my kids!

Leaky warnings indeed! Jon has been making fun of me all morning! (serves him right that I made him go clean the kitchen :rollingpin: )

OOOH!! Turtle hatchlings!! GOOD LUCK!!! Maybe this will be the year :bounce:

I am making a decided effort to enjoy this trip. It's one of our rare trips "alone" (not that we will even REMOTELY be alone, actually  ) But since Jon won't be joining us, it will give the three of us time to enjoy "just us" like we used to.

:hug2: we're going tomorrow!!!

I cannot wait to see you and 'lets!!! We are going to have the bestest time ever!!!

Can you tell I'm excited?? I haven't even had any coffee

She has to have all the ears to go with the different moods.....and of course she needs to bring the ones that she designed herself that cost a billion dollars.....DUH mom..really :taunt:

I told Alysia that I knew she and Justin would be off doing their own thing but could she please make sure to include Baleigh and Andrew (of course she will but I'm a mom and have to reinforce good manners)....she gets all silent and says, "but I thought we'd mostly be hanging out with you" awwwww made me all leaky too

Haven't gone just yet...just finished the last of the laundry and swept and hoovered the basement...

I looked at Baleigh at some point tonight and said, "Are you crazy??" She looked at me without a moments hesitation and said, "I'm *your* daughter, duh." It's going to be a good trip.

Suitcases are at the ready.

Eyebrows are waxed.

Toes are painted.

I have all of Jon's credit cards.

I think I'm ready :)

LOL, Tinker! They are GREAT!! Here are a few examples of what they have, though I *believe* I bought mine at Bed, Bath & Beyond (it was in the "beyond" aisle  ).

I love it and use it on TONS of my clothes to keep them looking fresh :)

Hi all :) Just checking in with a quiet moment :)

We have had the BEST time so far...it's been HOT, HOT, HOT but it's not deterred us.

We are in Port Orleans Riverside at the moment and Baleigh has voted it one of the "best water slides ever in the whole world ever." Andrew is enjoying himself as well, though he looked at me the other night and said, "Well if you haven't noticed mom, I tend to get very tongue tied around tall, gorgeous chicks." I objected to the word "chicks" but I think he was right on the rest  (I'll let YOU sort out who he was referring to :) )

The crowds have been mighty but we're taking FULL advantage of the FP system :worship: and it has worked well for us. We've also found that waking up early has it's distinct advantages :)

We have reservations tonight for Cat Cora's new restaurant tonight at the Boardwalk, and we're ALL looking forward to it very much.

We had dinner with Dorothy and her gang on Tuesday :) It was so good to see her!!! And we had a chance visit with her the next day in EPCOT over in England, where Johnie and I managed to yet AGAIN find a few new drinks we could tolerate

More later :)

Kouzzina...very interesting :) More on that later.

But, a little story first.

While "people watching" in EPCOT yesterday, Andrew was reading a book by Julie and Mike Neal entitled, "The Complete Walt Disney World 2009 - A Definitive Disney Handbook"

A young lady walked by and then paused for a moment to speak to us. She said, "I just wanted to say thank you for purchasing that book, it was written by me and my parents, and it's great to see people reading it." Clearly surprised (and excited over having met one of the authors) we chatted with her for some time, thanked her for stopping by and then parted company.

Now, we have truly enjoyed this book. It is a fantastic companion not only for planning a trip, but also for taking along on your daily excursions. It is filled with incredible information on so many topics! Everything from wait times and height restrictions to interesting facts about the animal life found at WDW. We passed much of our "line standing" time exclaiming, "DID YOU KNOW..." and then sharing fun, informative tidbits of knowledge. Johnie and I can highly recommend this book to anyone planning a first trip, or just as a breath of fresh air to a seasoned Disney veteran.

So! Anyway, fast forward to tonight at Kouzzina. We've paid our bill and are on our way out of the restaurant when Andrew walks up and says, "Guess who I just saw? That girl from yesterday who's parents wrote the Disney book!" Johnie and I, having never met a stranger (not for long anyway) approached their table and introduced ourselves. The young lady remembered us almost immediately and her father introduced himself to us and we chatted for a bit exchanging pleasantries and explaining to him how much we'd enjoyed his book over the past week. It was truly a wonderful experience, and Mike, if you perchance make your way over to our little corner of the world, :secrets3: and thank you again for such an amazing contribution to our favorite place on Earth :)

Tink

Well, gee. That's wicked cool, but WHAT ABOUT THE RESTAURANT????

Did you like it?

Johnie
25-08-2009, 04:42 AM
ohoh! Yes I liked it very very much! They had an amazing pastichio that was huge and very rich. Andrew did not like it but he swore it was covered in cinnamon. He's just bitter we didn't go back to Chefs de France :-)

We paid oop for spanokopita, various spreads (I recommend the fig one YUM) and calamari. They are working out the kinks a bit and our server was given strict orders for no substitutions with the menu items. However, it seems other servers weren't so strict. Oh well. It was all very good.
