Auntie Jo has a machine readable passport but not one of those new biometric passports the rest of us have.

How will immigration be different for her? Will she be scanned and fingerprinted and is there any other forms or anything she'll need to do?

Nothing different as far as I can tell. You will all need to fill out ESTA forms and you will all be fingerprinted and have digital photos taken. Biometric passports have only been available since 2006. As long as the passport has more than 90 days validity from the date of entry into the USA all will be fine

Ditto,

I have a biometric passport, Gavin doesn't and last year we were treated the same at immigration

So they won't dangle a latex glove in front of her? :rotfl:

By the way, these new biometric passports are very posh.

Not everyone in the family had a biometric passport when we went last year but the procedure was the same for all except Poppy who they deemed far to miserable to enter the States until we promised to keep her in a cupboard for the duration of our trip.

We leave for Paris in a few hrs and it's touch and go whether she comes with us or goes under the patio.
