A 16-year-old Canadian boy was found dead in a WDW resort hotel room, according to Orange County Sheriff's office.
The Sheriff's Office was notified around 9:37 a.m. that a family member found the teen unresponsive at the Port Orleans Resort - Riverside. Officials said the teen had an "extensive" medical history.
"The Sheriff's Office is conducting a routine death investigation," spokesman Jim Solomons said. "At this time there appears to be no signs of foul play and that the youngster's passing is related to his medical issues.
The teen was at the resort with his mother, father and at least one sibling, Solomons said.
Members of the Sheriff's forensic unit and the homicide squad are responding to the scene, Solomons said.
It was unclear how the teen died.
The death appears to be natural, said Bo Jones, Deputy Fire Chief, Reedy Creek Emergency Services, though he stressed that the investigation was preliminary.
He said the boy had some "significant" medical conditions. He said he could not be more specific.
"He had some preexisting conditions and appears to have passed away in his sleep."
Very sad indeed.

Very sad,
Terribly sad to lose a child. :( However, I do wonder if he was there with his family who recognized the severity of his condition (presumption here, no real knowledge of what his medical condition was) and wanted him to experience the happiness and magic of Disney?
Perhaps, that is what they did, came together to share the joy of the place, to give him that experience?
In some gentle way, perhaps this is a comfort to his family? If they had to lose him...
I don't know, I'm just hoping I guess. :( Too hard to think otherwise right now.
Go in peace, young man and rest in serenity.

Okay, so I live in Port Orange. The kid OD'd on the dad's drugs (some serious stuff, not just the usual Oxycontin). The dad has been arrested as of 4:20 this afternoon.

Oh, nevermind I thought it said Port Orange, not Port Orleans. Oops. Yes, the Port Orlean's kid's death is very sad. It sounds like the kid that passed away at Port Orleans was very sick to begin with. At least he is no longer suffering and is at peace.

I was hoping the same thing. Those last memories of smiles and joy would be very special for the family, I'm sure. We can hope..
RIP..

Wow, I hadn't heard about this. Very sad as no one would expect to go on a fun family vacation & have to deal with a death while there. My thoughts are with the parents & sibling as I cannot imagine dealing with something like this & hope I never have to :(
