The US Mint has several $1 coin types which it is trialling and Walt Disney World is now working with them to gelp get the coins into general circulation.
Starting from October 18th, Merchandise and Food & Beverage locations in the Magic Kingdom's Liberty Square will be giving back one-dollar coins as change.

I must admit, I love our £1 and $2 coins far better than the previous paper notes.

I'm not big into coins, but hey, money is money.

Cool, I'll have to get one for Jim .
Well, I guess I bring my backpack and not my small purse on our trip.

Oh, geez. $1 coins are a pain in the behind. Remember the Sacajawea fiasco? No one wants them. You can't use them in regular vending machines. If you try to use one at McDonald's or wherever, the cashier looks at you like yeah, right. This ain't real money, yo. These new ones have presidents on them. The new vending machine at work spit out the $1 coins as change. I went to the cashier in the water department and said, "I'll trade you a Thomas Jefferson for a George Washington!"
The only thing $1 coins are good for is that if they get wet, no big deal. The down side is, don't have any in your pocket on an upsidedown ride!

I'm not sure why people don't understand that coins are money too. I remember my grandpa used to give me 50 cent pieces all the time. No one ever batted an eye at taking them.
