I think that's the right way to go... laptop first

Terry's up for a macbook
Tink wants a macbook pro to replace her rubbish winblows laptop and a 27" imac to replace her old powerpc model
Who else is coming shopping?

apparently not which is a stupid omission IMHO although of course you can feed in from apple tv thing, watch HD downloads and even use the huge monitor as a second display.
Ive seen 30" monitors go for not much less than that whole 27" imac and in person it just looks amazing.
Definitely tempted

I would have put in an order already if it had blu ray as it would have been a no brainer

yeah I admit that's a puzzling omission :/ it was very widely rumoured to be in this revision but taken out just before launch. To not even be a build option is truly strange.
TO BE HONEST, for me it doesn't matter. I'm on the computer almost 24*7, so if I want to watch a movie, I want to watch it on tv not on a computer screen but I can see how this one would fit in great into a lounge environment so people may want to use it for that.
For me it's more about a) the resolution b) the all in one tidy unit
It would cost me v.v.v.nearly as much as the whole imac 27" to buy a monitor of equivalent resolution! Feels more sensible to pay a couple of hundred extra and get the whole mac!
