We've been using the release candidate on of our PCs for a while - it's pretty nice. Our upgrade is due 29th Oct (no I don't why there's a delay? )

So looking forward to all the PCs in the house going over!

I use Vista but my bother hates it and uses XP, I'm happy as long as it works and I can do what I want.

I liked XP but Vista made me stone cold which was when I defected , interesting how many of the features they are selling win7 bear a striking resemblance to some other systems ;)

win 98 omg talkabout live in the dark ages.....most BSoD' are the wrong drivers, ie written by MS to get the machine up and running, the you download the correct manufacturers ones, or even a bad memory stick, the codes are there to determine what the probs are.

ive never ever had a BSoD at home :D

even you said yourself SL has its faults  :taunt:

Everyone knows I'm a unix/mac guy but windows 7 is really good. It's what vista should have been for sure.

Some things are done even better than on macosx (shock!). The task bar at the bottom now just shows one icon per set of windows (rather like a certain macosx ;) BUT when you click on the icon, you get a full mini preview of every window open AND closed for that application making it very easy to see which windows you want to click on.

I still think macosx is better and laptop wise, there simply isnt a pc laptop in the world to touch the macbook pro (in my humble opinion) but windows 7 is a really good worthwhile upgrade. In fact, if anyone reading this has Vista left on a machine, either downgrade it immediately to xp or buy windows 7. It'll feel like you've bought a brand new faster machine

Ah but my problem with snowleaopard was sorted after just 5 minutes and t healed itself in everyother way ;)

Yep windows 98 and if we upgrade or do any updates the whole server crashes pretty much on the NHS - I kid you not

don't get me started on the IT systems inflicted upon the NHS. Let's just not go there

It is quite literally beyond belief and the billions they are pumping into these antiquated systems that don't talk to each other is a shocking wast eof tax payers money

heck I'll pay as much as I can afford for the NHS to get decent systems. I may moan  but I'll pay, but argh I'd like them to actually work at the end of it all :(

Skywatcher

But they won't thats the simple problem , out in primary care we are light years ahead of the hospitals and our systems look like they came out of the ark. problem is technologies move very fast and the NHS is a slow big behemoth, and like all government contracts - the systems will be developed by the lowest bidder, who unfortunately may not have a clue of the needs of the coalface

I would be interested to see what Win7 is like. Currently running 4 PC's and 1 lappy at home with XP Pro and 1 lappy with Vista. Although i am not a fan of Vista it is growing on me and it is only my DJ'ing unit so i don't use it for other applications.

its taking some getting used to, but there are some nice touches that i like. i did like vista, but this is better, its so fast on my pc

one thing i liked on xp and vista better was the quick launch function where you could have all the icons in the bottom left, not so in this as yet, maybe you can but i cant find out how
