Well, you've heard of the "slow boat (to)from China"

It was doing well until it got an "exception - UPS INTERNAL ACTIVITY " in Shanghai. I thought perhaps it'd been caught by a customs sniffer dog and it was desperately trying to make up a story to avoid a full cavity (port?) search so I phoned UPS who said ooo not heard that one before (lie) and "probably means it's paperwork or something"

Anyway, a quick google shows that it's the code used for when UPS have too much volume going through a section of the network and delay the stuff that hasn't been paid to be priority.

In theory it's left China now and yep the next destination should be Poland

Now Apple's original estimate was the 26th/27th which seems POSSIBLE but only if everything goes well from here on in. A slight slip and it'd be next monday/tuesday

Mine had 2 exceptions during its travels but still travelled an astonishing way in what seems like not too long.

If I'm honest I was quite happy when the lady at Apple told me it would be shipped on the 30th.

OK. Gentlemen. Will one of you PUHLEEZE tell me where they originate from? What country/place sends them out on their journey? Where does it begin? :mental:

They start in Shanghai Tink - then they go to Korea - presumably as Keith said on another thread to have something else put in the box. From there they enter Europe via Poland - to Cologne in Germany which I presume is a European UPS 'Hub' then from there to the UK where they pass customs at East Midlands airport then go via road to your 'local' and I use that term loosely- UPS centre where they are shipped out to the customer from

Me too when I go in and saw the enormous brown box in the hall yesterday I was acually quite moved that it had come 1/2 way round the planet in 4 days and seen more countries than I think I have

Shanghai. Ah. There we go. Just wondered where the starting point was.

So, Apple manufactures in Shanghai? Guess I'd better read up on my "favorite computer" manufacturer's policies.

I'm not sure Apple want to associate their whizzy quick computer with a tortoise as it is famous for being slow not , as we all know it to be a beautiful piece of design in its own right :D
