View Full Version : T-Rex restaurant
Is it loud in there?
Looking for alternatives to Rainforest Cafe for our DTD dining. Was considering House of Blues but think T-Rex would be better with Steven with us. But if it's as loud as RFC we may rethink. He's a bit antsy about loud noise. And if you have to get too close to a roaring dinosaur there's no way he'll go in there.
Oh and is it an ADR place or do you just take your chance?
Not sure about reservations, I think you just walk up and put your name in.
Yes, it's loud. Exact same premise at RFC, only with Dinosaurs.
Hmmmmm....
Maybe we should just go down the road to Joe's Crab Shack. :D
Yep. That would be the plan. Fun place, not a lot of noise, and interaction only when you want it...
Or we could take Steven into the T-Rex store and see what he thinks.
His choice.
Don't worry, we'll go to Joe's the next evening. :D
Yep. The store would be a good test. We took Seth for lunch and sat as close to the bar area as possible. The noise still startled him and caused him to hurry through his lunch... not that it was much of a lunch anyway... We aren't fans, can you tell? :sorry:
Ack. Food or service? It's the shoddy service that killed the RFC for us in the end. The food was always pretty good but the service not. And on our last visit the noise levels in there were just too much with 3 small children. :(
Service mostly. The server made is very clear that she was NOT happy that the only one eating was Seth (we just ordered drinks for ourselves). She made him wait, got his order wrong, made him wait to get it corrected and only snapped out of it a bit when I asked her if I needed to speak with the manager to have the child treated like a true customer. She had the good grace to look a bit abashed, but it still spoiled the experience overall.
Not rushing back...

As we say so many times, it's VERY variable
The food is generally "ok" but no one's going to be saying it's great or offered value for money. I liked the ice room but I think overall the rainforest cafe had more novelty value. Food about the same quality in each.
I think the store visit is a really good plan
Maybe we'll just let him build a dinosaur and then go for a bucket of crab.

It was very noisy in there Dawn - I thought much more so than RFC, when they bought the big dessert out everybody was clapping and chanting - unless that was just us!

It was ok, boys liked it but the food was not great and it was very loud but then its target audience is the 7-10 year old boy so what do you expect. Glad we did it but probably wouldn't go back - the build a dino was definitely worth it though - very manly not like those build a bear thingies at all

The food was ok, we all liked and ate what we had ordered, but it was very loud when we were there. We went Boxing Day so it was also very busy. We loved it though; Connor had a fab time afterwards at the build a dinosaur shop.
We were just outside the ice cave, which seemed even noisier than where we were sitting.
We booked in advance.
