ORLANDO, Fla. -- A Disney bus was involved in a crash with a second bus at a toll plaza at Epcot Center Tuesday afternoon.

A Disney bus is involved in a crash near the entrance to Epcot.

Authorities said one of the buses rear-ended another at the entrance to park's parking lot.

Seven passengers aboard the Disney bus were transported to Florida Hospital-Celebration Health with non-life-threatening injuries, according to Florida Highway Patrol Sgt. Kim Montes.

The driver of the Disney bus was transported to Orlando Regional Medical Center in serious condition, Montes said.

Seven of the eight patients were said to have minor injuries. However, the driver of the Disney bus was airlifted to Orlando Regional Medical Center in critical condition. Three of the minor injury patients were transported to Celebration Hospital, while four were taken to Dr. Phillips.

Reedy Creek Fire Department responded and was being assisted by Orange County Fire-Rescue.

While the crash closed access to the Epcot parking entrance for nearly two hours, traffic appeared to be getting through around 4:00pm.

crash is almost unheard of in Disney ?

Yes and no Jeff. Relatively speaking there are fewer crashes involving Disney vehicles but there are a lot of Disney transportation vehicles on the roads around the area so statistically something will be involved in an accident at some point.

I'm surprised how low the figure is considering the number of miles driven each day - must be thousands and thousands

wow that was quite a whack......i echo what you said chris, its surprisingly low considering how many 1000's of trips are made each year.....hope all the injured are fine, moreso the driver

According to last evening's news, it was a Mear's bus (the Disney Cruise Line buses are Mear's and not Disney) that was stalled and blocking the way. Not that the driver who hit the bus wasn't at fault...
