It's really just an effect where the lens gives a very shallow depth of field where everything else looks blurry

eeeeeee thank you Keith! I have ps7 i think that lozzy sent me so when i find it again i'll install it on the new laptop and give it a try!

it *looks* fairly simple, the instructions appear to be very user friendly so long as my copy does the samed as theirs!

That`s fantastic. I hadn`t heard of this effect before I read the opening post.
Thanks for the detailed explanation of how it`s done in Photoshop Keith. [Something new to play with!]

Well you need a special lens Josh called a tilt/shift lens. Often used for architecture since it gets rid of the horrible converging verticals problem which people have when they try and point the camera up at a building.

So the editing in photoshop way is by far the most convenient.

You can make home made ts lenses but I'd advise sticking with photoshop tbh

There are some new compact cameras coming out with the effect built in now which is kinda cool

Ohhhh I didn't realise you needed a special lense! I'll stick with photoshop then!

here are my first attempts. took me a while! the tutorial said to use 'lens blur' which ps7 didn't have so i used gaussian blur instead.....they're not that great but it was fun trying!

woops! Didn't see that there was a 2nd set of photos. The one of the beach is my favourite. The others are really good but I think the setting of the beach one really lends itself to the style of the photo  Thanks for sharing :hug2:
