I've never found one I've been happy with. Much easier to get a CD player with AUX-IN in my opinion

i was looking at that Josh but 1. i want to use it in both our cars and 2. if i put a new stereo in it won't fill the gap that the old one will leave- we have looked at the options.

Sadly, what Josh said is quite true. I've never see a car stereo transmitter that anyone has been happy with. Some of the car stereo manufacturers make interfaces that will allow you to hook your iPod into your existing stereo. The Alpine EX-10 springs to mind although I can't find their web page for it right now.
Tom (:macwave:... fortunately, my radio has a "Aux In" port!)

If you have a look on the net you might be able to find an official ford one that lets you have AUX in, that way it'll fit in the big space. Dad bought a Sony one for his old S-MAX that allowed him to have an AUX-IN on the front of it. It fitted into the irregular space that the usual S-MAX CD players have.

I Have This one (http://www.play.com/Mobiles/Mobile/4-/12817278/GTMax-Permium-Black-7-In-1-FM-Transmitter-Car-Charger-Kit-For-Iphone-3G-3GS/Product.html?ptsl=1&ob=Price&fb=0).
I got it because it's the cheapest in all honesty, but it's absolutely brill. The black bit at the back is actually flexible not fixed, so it can be moved around quite a bit. It fits in your cigarette lighter and charges the phone while you play your music. You simply find a radio station thats complete nothingness (88.1 works fine for me, it was the default setting on it), start playing your ipod with the bottom bit plugged in, and bobs your uncle!
The holders (side / bottom grips) are fully adjustable, it'll hold our iphones or ipod nano's. If its just me driving to work i keep it at a 90 degree angle to me, if i need to use the satnav app (tomtom / navigon), I leave it between my left knee and the gearstick so it's facing the right way!
It's only £15, i'd highly recommend it. you don't need to spend any more in my opinion. If you can get an old itrip off ebay even better, but they done hold or charge the phone, this one does :)
