...of a free down-loadable program that will fade the edges from the OUTSIDE-IN so to speak? I know Picasa will do a fade technique, but for instance I just want to fade the edges of a photo (in order to fade out some unflattering background).

Thoughts?

d'yah REALLLLLLY want to fade, which is possible for sure with a mask and photoshop, or could you perhaps make do with a vignette which may well be able to do a similar job?

My students don't have photoshop (until next year :thumbsup: ) so vignette would def be an option...

I use GIMP which is a a free photo adjustment piece of sft ware that has an awful lot going for it I would say it is equal to PSE
