We are home. I will try to be brief. Having severe vomiting, but mostly regurgitation, which catches him completely off guard. It just comes out suddenly. Even while sleeping. Sometimes he breathes it in so then he can't breathe well. Took to my local vet...essentially they said, don't know what it is but we'll give these meds (6 in total, taken 12x a day). And new food. He was there for 2 days. Was told to start new food. A week later not getting better, so they referred me somewhere else on Monday. An hour away. Went there late, he was admitted. They listened really well about the
regurgitation, it's just usually bile and totally suddenly. They did ultrasound and then endoscope. Has thickening of the area that connects stomach and intestine.
Now waiting for pathology reports. Only on two meds now and no diet restrictions, so back on normal food, as he could not have treats with this other food that the first vet gave me. May change diet again when get results from pathology.
Just waiting. I'm tired and emotionally drained. Have 8 page paper to write today. Not even started due to everything. I don't like coming home to an empty house. But luckily he came home last night. Like I said, just waiting.
Thank you everyone! :hug2:Please continue the thoughts and prayers for good positive lab results and easy treatment that works.
Dorothy, will do. Thank you!
21-04-2010, 12:50 PM
Oh dear, what a tough time you've both had. :hug2: Hope it improves soon.
Oh FD, I've been checking in for news...so glad he's home with you. I so hope the tests come back with something that's easily sorted. How is he in himself? I mean, is he low, or seeming like himself?
Will carry on with the :pixiedust: for Arthur, and for you to be able to focus on your paper :hug2:
Oh poor Arthur. He must be so confused. :(
I sure hope it ends up being something simple and easily healed, foreverducky. :hug2:
Now, Mama on with the paper. You can do this! :comfort:
21-04-2010, 01:11 PM
Hope everything works out well for Arthur FD!
I know from personal experience how emotionally draining it is when you've got a sick kid (dogs are just children that eat off the floor). Hopefully the vets will be able to sort it out for him and get him back on his feet!
Tom (:macwave:... the doctor is in... sit, stay!)
21-04-2010, 01:39 PM
Bless poor Arthur. And you too Billie. :hug2: I'm keeping the wave of :pdust: going for you both. Good luck with the paper.
21-04-2010, 02:05 PM
Lots more :hug2: for you both.
How long do we have to wait for the results Billie?
21-04-2010, 02:08 PM
Aww poor Arthur and poor Billie :hug2:
Hope the results come back quickly and it is easily put right :hug2:
21-04-2010, 02:17 PM

21-04-2010, 02:51 PM
Offering lots of :hug2: for you and Aurthur!! I hope he's feeling better soon. :)
Oh I want Arthur to be better. :(
21-04-2010, 03:37 PM
Thank you. We are playing the waiting game (which I stink at). We have to wait until Monday. If super lucky, Friday, but more likely Monday.
He seems a little groggy still this morning from the stuff yesterday, so he's sleeping.
21-04-2010, 04:15 PM
Poor little baby! At least he is home with Mommy and that must make him feel better
We will wait with you..it won't help a lot..but we are going to do it anyway :hug2:
21-04-2010, 08:24 PM
Awwww, poor baby and you FD . :hug2: :pdust::pdust::pdust: that whatever it is, is easily curable .
21-04-2010, 09:49 PM

Talked to vet. Basically he has an inflammatory disease, which requires a food change, meds (probably for life), and no people food. :(
I should be happy.... :sigh: There were no tumors or things like that, but there goes the occasional piece of ham and oyster cracker. I know it's my own stuff, but I feel bad.
26-04-2010, 10:43 PM
:hug2: at least it is something manageable through medication and good diet. A 'human' treat for a dog is no different than a 'doggy' treat  It's the fact they're getting the food that they like
26-04-2010, 11:59 PM
Thanks Josh, I needed to hear that.
Just back from vets. He's on three meds and I bought the new food (venison and potato).
27-04-2010, 12:59 AM
So happy it is not anything to awfully bad . :hug2: Does Arthur like his new food , thats half the battle .
27-04-2010, 01:27 AM
Yes he does, I gave it to him for the first time tonight and he seemed to go straight for it. That was a huge plus tonight.
27-04-2010, 03:07 AM
Oh good, I am glad it is nothing too serious. Give the little guy some smooches for me.
27-04-2010, 06:40 AM
Oh FD, thank goodness :hug2:
Oooh Arthur - posh venison food.
Good that Arthur's illness can be treated. You can keep doggy approved treats for him foreverducky. :comfort:
It's hard though, I know. We love to give our dogs a bit of a treat, especially when they beg, eh? :sigh:
He'll adjust.
27-04-2010, 11:10 AM
Thank goodness he'll be okay!
Don't feel too bad about it. My Sherman has to be on special food and he gobbles it down like it was the last meal he'll ever see. Of course he still begs for people food and it takes a act of will to turn him down but based on his weight, he's not suffering terribly. :laugh2:
Tom (:macwave:... plump dog owner!)
FD, im so glad to hear that everythings going to be ok with Arthur. You could keep little pots of doggy treats about the house, that way when you are eating you could slip Arthur a little doggy treat and he's be none the wiser!
Its under control and you still have your little boy - thats the most important thing! :hug2:
27-04-2010, 11:51 AM
I am so thankful that he is going to be okay. I have been worrying all week. I have made another calendar for his medications, so I know when and what kind. I have doctor approved treats that he eats, so I feel so good about that. They were expensive so I made them smaller. He loves the doggie food. Speaking of food, anyone know if the same amount for dry equals to the same amount of soft? He use to eat .5 cup of dry, does that mean he eats .5 cup of soft?
I hope that he heals and that everything works out. I guess time will only tell, but I'm doing everything I have been told to do. He's my world.
Thank you everyone for your support. :hug2:
27-04-2010, 11:51 AM
Glad to hear that the change of diet is working and that Arthur is getting better.
28-04-2010, 12:43 AM
:hug2: Give Arthur lots of hugs and kisses from me. I'm so relieved that it was good news so to speak.
28-04-2010, 05:11 PM
Glad to hear wee Arthur is on the mend. Here's a few more :hug2: :hug2: for the both of you. :hug2:
28-04-2010, 08:58 PM
I'm so happy for you both that hes feeling better and that he likes his food . He is soooo Cute ! :hug2:
28-04-2010, 09:07 PM
Thank you! We will take all :hug2: we can get.
29-04-2010, 09:24 AM
so sorry to have missed this - thinking of you both x
30-04-2010, 12:56 AM
We seem to be doing much better right now. We are doing our meds and new food. Knock on wood.
Let's hope it all works to get rid of the inflammation completely.
30-04-2010, 02:09 AM
He will always have th disease but yes let's hope that the inflammation will go away.
30-04-2010, 10:57 AM
hope he starts to pick up now :hug2:
