would be a nicish place to stop over around half way from essex to glasgow. im looking for a hotel but havent a clue where to look....HELP!!!!!

is it just for a night stop? if so premier inns are a lot better than they used to be.

yeah just an overnight stay, dont fancy driving all the way in one go...a friend said holiday inns are really nice...but was looking for an area to stop off :)

i just routed it on mapquest and it sent you m25, A1 to scotchcorner. then across to Penrith and up M6 etc - that's the way we travel up to Scotland. Once you get past the M25 it's not a bad drive.

we drive to near Elgin and do it in one go, usually 8 hours house to house.

If you wanted to stop then what about Sheffield, Leeds, Harrogate is just off the A1, or York? that's one of my fave places but that's if you go up the A1. Depends what you want to stop off and do.

what site are you looking at? i paid 29 a night in central manchester for a family room last weekend. They're usually around 59 a night

Nowt to do at Scotch Corner i don't think

on the holiday inn and prem inn sites, where do you get them from. a friend said they got one for 29....dont wanna do anything just dont wanna stop in a dump if you know what i mean

i've always found HI more expensive- around 70 whereas PI around 60.

always found them cheaper on their site, when you going? they sometimes offer deals if you book more than 21 days before travel.

those prices won't go up, if you wait there'll be a deal i bet. Deansgate locks PI was nice and had free parking. 5 taxi into town and 8 miles from Trafford Centre

The PI at the trafford centre starts at 30 a night (29 infact!) and Me? Stop with the apple malarky?! About as likely as switching back to winblows.. sorry windows :wink:

we stayed at the premier inn close to manchester airport, as they are all the same [i think] i would reccommend them they guarantee a good nights sleep or your money back.

going to glasgow to see friends we met in St ives 15 yrs ago, we went to wdw together for the first time back in 2000. they came down for dens surprise party last year.

was stopping overnight trace. i was asking for recommendations if anyone had any, i could just have a few hours break if we set out early enough will decide soonish enough

I've done Poole to Edinburgh in one go. DH used to do it over night when he worked in Glasgow.

yeah but im special these days and quite rare so have to take it easy :lol:

ive done, here to leeds to huddersfield and back in one day for work before. not done a long drive since ive been ill. will see how i feel when i go

ive definately decided to stop off at the trafford centre as its roughly half way. so if anyone is about the day we go perhaps have a little meet :D date will probably be friday 20th august but thats not definate yet
