A letter discovered by Stephen Fry written by a mother from Vermont. Leaky eyes for me.

The Best Thing I've Read All Year (http://www.andrewtobias.com/newcolumns/000504.html)

Very powerful words.

You know what makes me sad? It's ten years later and not much has changed. :sorry: I heard kids picking on another kid just the other day.

Hateful wretches.

Thanks for caring enough for posting this Claire. It is as powerful today as it was then. :hug2:

:( That's sorry news to hear Jeff. :(

I've always looked to the UK to be the leader in acceptance and tolerance for all. :sigh:

In some sense we are with Civil Partnership (which is fall short from 'wedding') but in some areas we are not so advanced as others...

what Theresa May?

 sadly she'd far from the best choice for equality minister. She's voted "politically" on just about every issue, not just equality issues, through her career. Quite simply voting along party lines to attain a front bench position, job done I guess.

There are others who've continually made sure they voted with their conscience consistently even at their own political cost sometimes.

Minister of equality is a special position. It's not a yawningly, keep a department going, don't get into trouble kinda job. The country needed someone not afraid to shout out and pull every aspect into the 21st century. We haven't got it though I'm afraid

Sadly, I agree with you and you hit the spot, however we do have new junior minister for equality (Lib Dem) so be interesting to see what kind of equality agenda we would have
