Tonight I'm going for a drink with my beautiful girlfriend, her best friend and her new-ish boyfriend. Tomorrow is vegging day, Louise is off to Belgium for a few days so I'm just going to chill and save some pennies, Sunday I'll be in the pub watching England beat Japan, and Monday I'll be making the most of my three day weekend, and doing housework!

Next weekend is Harlem Globetrotters and the weekend after that... DOWNLOAD!!

Is download what the Donnington monsters of rock turned into

I went 6 years running to that :D good times

Yes it is - Monsters of Rock started in 1980, took a brief break in the late nineties and returned as Ozzfest until 2003, then LiveNation took over and it became Download. It's still in Donnington Park racecourse, and has grown every year - this year sees the introduction of a five day camping pass, two extra stages (so there's now 5 stages, with roughly 100 bands playing across three days), and the arena has been expanded to allow 110,000 people in.

As it's the 30th anniversary of MOR, they've gone all out to sign AC/DC as the main act for Friday. They are bringing their own stage (seriously!), and will be the only band playing when they are on. Usually the main acts on each stage overlap a bit, but not for AC/DC! I bet they weren't cheap either - but they havent played a festival since 1991, so it'll be worth it.

This will be my second download festival, and about my tenth in total (I used to go to Reading until it went a bit more indie / emo). I cannot wait!!

I'd recommend it to anyone who likes rock music - the other headliners are Rage Against The Machine (Saturday) and Aerosmith (Sunday). These festivals are truly unique experiences, and seem to get better every year. It's really bad, but I'm really looking forward to seeing Billy Idol!!

Getting ready for a week in AZ coming up next Tuesday. I'll have to be ready with clothes packed for that AND for WDW BLT the following weekend! :D :D :D

Yepper!!! We're going to finally get a chance to stay at BLT and it's on "that all important first weekend in June!" How cool is that.

Not sure if we'll get to see the first run of the new Electrical Light Parade as it's on Sunday (6/6) but we'll play it by ear from here.

Need to get the house organized too. Coming up summer, and the pool, and that sort of stuff. We've "opened" the lanai already, but want to get it nicely arranged for the peak summer use.

Hoping the problem neighbors don't ruin this summer for us like last. :(

Hope everyone gets at least a little chance for a bit of a rest this weekend. It's a long three day here as Monday is Memorial Day.

I'm going to see Sex in the City 2. :D

Then I have a lot of homework to deal with along with getting the house ready for the carpet cleaners on Tuesday. Then I'm going to IKEA on Tuesday. :D I have not been in almost a year.

My day started with the Lord of the Rings trilogy in hardback landing on my head. :(
Then I was forced to dance to the Birdie Song during French.

It's only up from here on in - HALF TERM!! :mental:

Tomorrow Steven has karate then we're off shopping for sunglasses and shoes and stuff. Sunday it's the first car boot of the year then a bit of work in the garden. Monday probably the same - near to clear that tortoise area.

Have lots of stuff planned over half term too. :D

Saw aerosmith thgere as well when they were 2nd on the bill to whitesnake- awesome gig with Steve Vai on guitar. Best were Maiden though - always great :D but the lineup the year I saw them at Donny was epic, Helloween, Guns n Roses, Metallica, Kiss and Megadeath I think

We are going to visit my nephew and his girlfriend in Richmond tomorrow ( my brother and sister in law are travelling down from Southport - it's their son) so that is going to be lovely. Was gooing to walk along the Thames or have a picnic in Richmond Park but it looks like the weather isn't going to play nice..

Sunday, Jai's sister and family ( you saw the wedding photo's) are coming over.

Monday, relax and do not much.

That's my Bank Holiday weekend.

All you US peeps, have a great Memorial weekend

I quite often have a veggie option Josh.

Tonight we had mushroom stuffed tortellini on a mixed leaf salad with lemon and olive oil dressing ( very easy to mix this up and store in the fridge) with chopped asparagus ontop, toasted pine nuts, grated parmesan and lots of black pepper - it was scrummy

Sandra that sounds amazing! People always ask if I miss meat and I can honestly say I don't! I think veggie food is always a lot more flavoursome!

Thanks, we just had some other very sad news. A family friends son has been severly injured in Afghanistan. He had steped on a land mine. Please say a quick prayer for Nick if you can spare the time. He's only 23 and newly married. :sorry:

Sister Tinkfan, I'm so sorry to hear about your Aunt, and our brave soldier. :sorry: I hope he is able to reconcile with the loss of his leg and go on to have a full and happy life. He has his life, I hope that is his focus once the healing begins.

We broke all the nutritional rules and tried a new little Mexican restaurant (nope, I don't even LIKE Mexican usually) near our house. I had fajitas, and they were quite nice! Herself had a burrito and we laughed, and laughed and LAUGHED when we saw how HUGE it was!!! She couldn't finish it, of course. I had flan for dessert. It was more firm than the flan I'm used to, but quite nice and not overly sweet even with the bit of caramel sauce. Inexpensive and nice! We'll be back again when we both feel the need for comfort carbs. :sorry:

I love mexican food! A place called 'What's cooking?' in our area does the best fajitas ever! They bring the veg in on a sizzling platter and everything else for you to 'build' the fajitas come in individual little ramakins on a wooden board as well as a tortilla warmer dish too  The sour cream is amazing!

Tink
29-05-2010, 10:45 AM
That's one of the reasons I like fajitas. They are HOT. I hate tepid food (when it's meant to be hot).

Their sides of cheese, lettuce tomato, sour cream, rice and beans and tortillas (in a warmer) were quite nice too. They had the best homemade hot salsa...
