See I still don't know if they are charging for the handset when they upgrade - the lady in the shop thought theye were but there is nothing online about it at all

OF course they are Chris! Lol reckon it's going to be around 200. it's got to be more than the 3gs

If they weren't I'd be first on the list!!!

NOt impressed with the tarrifs - was hoping to go for the 20 a month which offers unlimited texts and 100minutes which is fine for me but they don't offer international call facility - who doesn't do that in this day and age!!

MarkE

You mean calling when you're abroad, or discounted calls to international numbers? The former is avaiable on the 35+ tariffs.

O2 | iPhone 4 | Tariffs for iPhone (http://shop.o2.co.uk/new-iphone/tariffs.html)

Handset pricing going on the leaked vodafone stuff yesterday was 190 for 16GB and 280 for 32GB, with the 16GB one being free if you were on a 45 a month contract.

I imagine it'll be similar for all networks - they've got to be competative, unlike in the US, where it's only on AT&T.

Ive ordered one from apple which should work with any network. ok it was expensive without a contract but I didnt want to be locked in, cant wait!

Skywatcher

still no sign on o2 of cost of handset and its supposed to be here next week

still the 3G's should be going cheap now

MarkE
15-06-2010, 01:33 PM
You can pick up a 3G on ebay for 150 now. Likewise, you can trade your old 3G in to o2 themselves and they'll give you 148, which you can offset against the cost of the phone.

If you're willing to take a 45 a month contract, you should get the phone for free. That's been about the cut off mark with the last few.

o2 are dropping their unlimited data though!! Check how much you're likely to use before signing up... I was SHOCKED to find that I use about 1.3GB per month!!

Internet radio streaming before you all ask...

yeah don't use much but a lot of it is pushed access from apps

there is a 20 tariff which would suit me but no international calls on that.

have signed up for their email updates anyway and thye may send amicro sim in the meantime they have said

are you sure you dont get international calls? I know you dont get the ITS which is the discounted international calls but I'd be surprised if they stopped you making international calls

Ive ordered from Apple too since we have a work contract so really dont need another. I'll be trading in a couple of old iphones which will pay for it :D

only looking at the tariffs that Mark linked to - the first three have a no next to international

pretty sure 500gb is more than enough for what I use

TBPH unless the handset is reasonable I can't see a compelling need to change just yet now I have my lovely iPad

I know this is an iPhone thread but Lisas is currently being tracked by UPS from China :mental:

Hey guys it says you need a micro sim card so do we need to change our sim card?

Skywatcher
15-06-2010, 03:09 PM
I think o2 will send a cloe of your current sim as a micro sim to you  thats the impression I got and if you register prior to launch it may even arrive before launch

Deafjeff
15-06-2010, 03:14 PM
I am not sure if I will buy the phone early or use the monthly contract to cover the phone cost.....

It is so annoying when we do not know how much the handset will be via 02....

Just came out of online chat with 02 who just said that they will let people know in due course. (helpful!)

For those who have registered their interest will have information before 24th June launch and that just about it (!)

So will we not be able to use on vodaphone as it says sim free,

Skywatcher

I'd have thought vodaphone would hae to send you a micro sim

yep!

Sim free means you can use a sim from any provider in it. All you need to do is talk to your cell provider and ask them for a micro-sim to replace your current normal sized sim (or of course if you're creative you can cut the existing one down to size ;)

Keith, I think the micro sims have something in them for the video calling (the guy in the Birmingham Apple shop seemed sure you have to get a new micro sim, but that the providers already have tons of these). May wanna get a new sim just to be safe!

Im not sure all my mates will want to jump in on the video calling thing, but we'll see...

Well tbh we've had video calling on normal sims for years it's just no one's used it ;) but you're right, it'd be nicer to get a new micro sim than cut the existing one!

Lol at the idea of Keith making a video call, I'd spend the whole conversation looking at a potted plant

I am sooooo undecided about this. I've got the original iPhone and it's been perfectly adequate.

So, I'm trying to figure out AT&T's family pricing plans with the new iPhone. If I can do it for no monthly increase in cost, I may give it a go.

However, trying to figure out anything from AT&T is making me even more insane! :mental:

Tom (:macwave:... is insaner a word?)

Lots of people saying that video conference is old news...... I am wondering why apple is making a big deal out of it...

Is it because it is first time for them or the technology have changed so much?

Get the new Apple iPhone 4 from 24 June on Orange, UK (http://iphone.orange.co.uk/plans/)

Contract prices are up!!

Interestring how orange is offering unlimited data.......

Deafjeff
16-06-2010, 01:16 PM
Just seen a small print ..... fair usage of 750 mb per month...

MarkE
16-06-2010, 01:18 PM
Have you ever checked out how much you actually use?
If you're on o2 you can have a look at your online bill, and it breaks it down.
I USED to average at 300MB a month, but lately I've been streaming radio through that TuneIn app - 2 hours a day, 5 days a week -last months usage was 1.3GB!!

I'd just have to go back to the old ipod - or take my chances, and see what happened!!

Skywatcher
16-06-2010, 01:22 PM
hmmm, more tempted by orange than o2 at those prices so far

Deafjeff
16-06-2010, 01:23 PM
I just checked my 02 and it says 146,976 KB what does that mean?

This is between 22 May to 3rd June... no idea if this is good or bad.....

MarkE
16-06-2010, 01:31 PM
Thats 146MB - in two weeks, if your last two weeks have felt normal you'd be around 300MB a month!

Vodafone's leaked tariffs seemed the best, but the actual phone costs weren't confirmed - and I like the idea of Orange Wednesdays :)

I don't like the idea of any limits on WIfi - as its in my house and pid for why should wifi limits be put into place!

Also no idea how much data a face to face call will take

Deafjeff
16-06-2010, 01:53 PM

MarkE

The WiFi limit applies to BT Openzone and The Cloud. You an use as much as you like at home - you could put it in airplane mode if you really wanted to!

Still waiting for all other prices before I decide whether to jump or not, but with New York just two paydays away, it's not looking likely for me.
