won't import the iPhoto library - does the first 20-30 events but then hangs - any ideas?

Have you tried a manual import?

What specific version of Aperture are you running? There's been lots of reported issues with Aperture 3.

Current trial version is 3.0.3. Is that what you've got?

Tom (:macwave:... so many versions, so little time!)

Tried updating software whilst it was installed to see if there had been any recent patches or updates and that hasn't fixed it

Its weird it always sucks in the first hundred events and then hangs - needs to be forced quit

Have managed to have a play by manually uploading a few photos but I have to say that that kind of defeats the whole seamless functionality of the programme.

Well it looks like I'm not alone :( looks like the trial version is a buggy one - as its not a cheap programme don't really want to risk a purchase

Apple - Support - Discussions - Importing from iPhoto to Aperture ... (http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2316001&tstart=0)

Yep.
Was gonna point you in the direction of the discussions but have been tied up with people who actually expect me to work this morning!

They're a cheeky lot!

But I digress. It appears from all the discussions that the current version has some rather annoying bugs. When this happens (as it does occasionally with software releases), it's typical of Apple not to acknowledge it in the forums. However, they usually will silently, in the background, work like little beavers trying to fix it. Typically, in a couple of weeks, they'll have another release that will fix the problem.

So, my best advice at this time would be to keep monitoring the discussions. When a new release becomes available, you'll start seeing postings to that effect. That's when I'd go grab the new version and give it a shot.

Tom (:macwave:... requires that thing called patience again!)

A little anoying though

Agreed!

Like I said, I've seen it happen before. Not often. But when something slips through like this, it is particularly annoying. Especially since Apple normally does such a brilliant job with their software.

Tom (:macwave:... better integration testing!)
