We are all sporting 'we've been brave' stickers and all have arms full of vaccinations.
Boys were brilliant  , as was I :D
So.... Suppose its time to actually realise we are going, haven't really looked at the countdown until Keith pointed it out today
:mental:
I haven't even ordered my Pith helmet yet

I'm on first name terms with the nurse at our medical centre that does the injections and minor surgery haha. Funnily enough the name is Chris, but this one is short for Christine. I went through a bout of injections for HK as well as having to go and get a dressing changed once every few days!

Had a day owing today as I am working all weekend so we did some holiday shopping
Got a cute rucksack for lisa a to take on the safari for bits and bobs with cute lions on it
Uber strength insect repellent
Suncream
Clip on sunglasses for the boy as 2 pairs of glasses is a bit awkward
Some bland coloured tshirts as apparently as well as scaring the wildlife bright colours attract the bugs
Hand fans (still love these things)
Swimming cossie for Lisa
:mental:
It's all coming together now and feels a percentage point closer to actually happening.

Just had the bill for the malaria meeds :thud: well rather that than malaria
Also just been to pick up parcels from amazon and the boys binoculars have arrived along with Matthews digital camera and Thomas zx1 camcorder which looks totally cool for 50 quid and even has a tripod adaptor!!!!
I am as excited as if we were going to Disney
If you want to know why. Go to Welcome to Flickr - Photo Sharing (http://www.flickr.com) and search for images using tsavo. Which is where we are going

Electricity - well they use the same 3 pin plug we do at 240v and all the hotels and lodges have full electricity - one will be permenently reserved for my camera batteries and the other to charge all the i devices and Nintendo DS's :D

Most of the animals will be very active during/after rainy spells. The tortoises at the very least! They have reserves of water and don't empty their bladders unless startled or when they are 100% sure they can refill them (ie when it rains or when they are near a puddle to drink from)
Elephants would love to play in the rain, too! (but i'm guessing your camera won't.)

A fairly obvious comment Chris, but please double check that you have not left any valuables in your room when you check out of the lodges after your safari as the chances of ever seeing them again are zilch.
I "hid" my camcorder battery in our room at Amboseli on our safari a while back and forgot about it when we left.
We were told that there was just no way of ever seeing it again after we had left, even though we were only moving onto a different reserve in Kenya for the next leg of the safari.
