perhaps he wants to show you a good time as he knows how sad you've been . I would be straight up honest with him and say you know I love you like a brother but I'm not ready for a relationship now or a friend with benefits . He may  and say I just wanted a friend to go with as I didn't want to go alone .

Right well if he is a good mate of old then what you need to do is...

1 need a reason to dress up and feel good about yourself at the moment

2 tell him you are just getting out of a very difficult situation at the moment and you aren't ready for ANY sort of relationship at the moment

If he's a mate, he'll understand , you'll go and have a lovely time, and have something nice happen in your life for a change.

Don't let that prat scare you off ever going out with a male friend again.

We want photos of the ice. :)

Tracy, is he someone that you are constantly chatting to so he knows your situation and just wants to cheer you up? If so, accept and enjoy.

Or has this invite come completely out of the blue? If so, probably safer not to go.

Hun , you have to do what you think is right and what you are comfortable with but

1. you need to get out and have fun and enjoy yourself and life now

and

2. I would absolutely hate to see you becoming a recluse and staying away from your mates.

If its too much too soon then thats fine, I ain't comin down there and dragging you

hmmm, well i'd say don't panic. In my (un) professional opinion i think you may feel you are going head first into another relationship....ok, so stop right there and take a step back.

you checked with him and he said it's just as friends, try not to look any further than that. I'm sure he has nothing on his mind but taking you as a friend, as long as he knows that it's going no further than that i think you deserve a bliddy good weekend at a posh 'do'!

13-07-2010, 07:44 PM
I think you should go - you've clarified with him about his intentions, and a posh do sounds lovely! And you already have the dress picked out!

I have just been invited to my DH's sister's wedding and I have nothing to wear - luckily I have till September to find something!

You still have a week to decide :hug2: think about it, weigh up the pros and cons - you know he doesn't have an ulterior motive - and then make your decision :hug2:

I'm guessing that it doesn't feel right, because it's all too soon and even though you both know it's as friends, other people will make assumptions and you will feel you have to keep explaining yourself :hug2:

You have a beautiful dress that is just screaming "wear me" and you so deserve to have fun and be happy :hug2:

Don't make a decision this week and sy no, think about it hun and then let him know your answer :hug2:

You are probably building it all up in your head when actually you could just go, meet some new people, not mention all the stuff you have been through lately ( switch off from it for the day) and have a lovely time.

You'll probably even get to have a bit of a dance ( who can resist a dance) and the atmosphere will be very positive so I'm sure you'd have a good time
