You plan on renting a car anyway, right?
Miami is about 4 1/2 hours from Orlando so you will have a long drive after the long flight.

If we were doing this we would stay over the first night about 30 mins from the airport then get up early the next morning and drive to orlando.

the long flight doesnt really affect me johnie, but it would depend on the arrival time whether or not to drive straight up to orlando
would you say its easier getting out of the airport than mco. meaning double baggage drop/pickup notoriously slow thru immigration, mind you i went straight thru last trip as i was in a chair ;) :) car pickup etc

I flew into Miami in 1988 due to my not actually knowing there was an airport in Orlando. :sorry: We drove straight up to Orlando and as I remember it wasn't a bad drive. I was only 21 though so probably had more stamina then. In the end it worked in our favour because we ended the holiday in Key West.

What about into Tampa, Mick? Are there any better prices going into there? It would be closer.
Tom (:macwave:... just thinking!)

Mick,
It has been a good many years since I flew internationally from and to Miami (on my way to/from Panama) but I don't remember too much hassle with customs. Of course I'm an American so really can't vouch for the foreign side.

That's too bad, our daughter uses it all the time. I'd try Tampa then, that's only 1 1/2 hours away. Or maybe Jacksonville.

I didn`t realise that you could get a direct flight to Tampa Mick.
When I had to go to Tampa on business a few years ago, I flew into MCO and then drove to Tampa from there. [On reflection, I may well have opted to do that!]
If you could fly to Tampa though it would certainly ease your problems concerning getting to Orlando from the airport, as negotiating Tampa airport and driving to Orlando are a breeze.
