Spent all week reading the encyclopaedic manual for this camera, it is truly astonishing the level of customisation you can perform on this machine, some of the things I wasn't happy with to start with transpired just to be the way the camera was set up, taken many shots just to get used to it and actually tried some portraits of the furbabies yesterday

Black cats are hard to get right I have concluded

Did you get a kit lens with it?

I dont think he did

I got the kit lens with my 7d and I thought it was really good for a kit lens but I've seen countless reviews saying it's rubbish so perhaps I just got a rare good copy.

He is edible :)

Not tried video yet

I love love love all the focus options. The single point focus point can be moved to any of the 19 nodes through the viewfinder with a little toggle as you are shooting which is brilliant.

I don't think I'm getting quite what I want yet ,but the potential is there, I can see that.

Was getting really annoyed with the slow shutter speed in Av when using a flash, but read that this was to illuminate the background, soooo much to learn but the drive speed on the camera is insane.

Just found I can add my name to the exif data :)

yeah I must admit, I haven't taken the time to find out much about that, I hope it's an option or something because although yeah dragging the shutter does allow the background to be better exposed it's not always what's wanted :/ I think that's a bit of a weird change unless it can be overridden.

It can easily, it's on one of the submenus under exposure.

I am being very un male and reading the manual. ;)

Great shots- The camera obviously has so much potential, I bet within a week you'll be posting even better shots (Although your Kenya ones are hard to beat!)

 the manual is my bedtime reading now :D

I am actually in love with this camera, it is utterly the business, the more I have read about it on the net as well the more it seems its actually more in common with the 1D rather than the 5dMkii.

Only problem is now....I have no excuses :D
