Vinylmation is the latest collecting craze to take Disney Parks by storm.

Vinylmation artists have found many creative ways to represent Disney characters and stories.

Vinylmation isnít just for collecting. You can also trade figures and create your own!

D Street stores at both Walt Disney World and Disneyland Resorts are your go-to resource for all things Vinylmation.

What do you think of this latest craze? Do you own any vinylmation figures?

I think they are cute. Well most of them. I do like how you can trade them now. Cause when they first came out, you were stuck with whatever you got. I did buy an entire set of the holiday ones for my work desk. I bought it off Ebay though and didn't pay anymore than I would have at the parks. At the time however, you could only buy the entire set which is actually TWO sets and I didn't need that many  and you couldn't trade.

Strange thing is that my brother in law fell in love with them when he went in May. I may get him some for Christmas

Hi
When we went to DLRP last month we saw these vinylmation collectibles and couldn't resist and brought 2 (one of the bigger ones and one of the smaller ones).
Does anyone know when they first came out? I would like to start to collect these but havent got a clue where to start!
Are they quite easily found in WDW?
Thanks

We've been sucked in as well, been looking on eBay tonight and could have quite easily spent a fortune. I've got a nightmare beforee Christmas so may finish that collection off but love the muppet ones.

I like the sound of the pin trading so might start off my collection with the vinylmation ones

I can see this get very expensive :twomorecents:

I think it was around September/October last year that the craze began....not sure when they first came out.
They are found very easily in all of the Disney stores but especially Downtown Disney.

They had them at WDW in August 2009, I think they were very new then. We bought a couple, think I can see lots of $ going on them this year! I am going to get one of the large plain white ones and have the characters autograph it :wiggle:

I do so wish you all hadn't brought this up. :nono:

I've gone and had a peek and now there's several that I'd like to have. The first is this one:

This one (http://www.disneystore.com/vinylmation-limited-edition-vinylmation-urban-series-3-figure-and-pocket-watch/mp/1284306/1000828/)

But I'm loath to spend that much money on it.

The second one(s) is(are) purely for the fact that they make me smile. This is them:

Nerds Series (http://www.disneystore.com/disney/store/DSISearch?Searchstr=nerds+series&x=0&y=0&storeId=10051&catalogId=10002&langId=-1&Ntx=mode+matchallpartial&N=0&Nu=pProductID&Nr=pPublished%3A1&Ntk=All_Shopping&Ntt=nerds+series&D=nerds+series&Dr=pPublished%3A1)

Yeah, like I need something else to collect!

Thanks a bunch!

Originally, I was unimpressed, but during a visit to our local Disney store recently, I stood patiently as the store manager explained them to my children. Not only did she hook us in, but an idea was born to use the Vinylmations & a scavenger hunt on the morning we leave for Disney....(shhh, they don't know we are going.) :)

As for the Vinylmations, we go to the mall once a month, and each of us get a new one.... yes, me too. ::blush:: We love them, and it's something that we do together and have so much fun opening them to see who got what character. We are up to 12 and are going this weekend for our monthly purchase. :) They are very cute - well, most of them, and I'm excited to trade any duplicates we have at Disney later this year.

I have to admit..this is one craze that I just don't get

Maybe if I see them in WDW it will add just the right amount of magic? I don't know. I'm not really that fond of them at this point.

What are the guidelines for Vinylmation Trading?

Vinylmation Trading is something the whole family can enjoy. The most important guideline to remember is to have fun collecting or trading the Vinylmation Figures you like. Which one did you get?

The main criteria to judge whether aVinylmation Figure is tradable or not is that it must bear a "Disney" mark and either a Vinylmation Logo or Art of Disney Theme Parks logo on the bottom foot stamp.

Vinylmation Figures should be in good, original, undamaged, tradable condition.

Create-Your-Own Vinylmation Figures are not accepted for trade.

When trading with Cast Members, Guests may only trade for a Vinylmation Figure that is in the same proportion to the one being offered for trade (e.g. 3" Vinylmation Figure for a 3" Vinylmation Figure).

Additional items (e.g. packaging, product cards, buttons, etc.) are not required to be offered in trade when trading with Cast Members.

Guests may trade a maximum of one (1) Vinylmation Figure per activity, per location, per day.

When trading with Cast Members from a non-mystery "Trade Me" box, Guests should offer a Vinylmation Figure not currently displayed in the box.

Monies, gifts or receipts may not be exchanged or used in trade for a Vinylmation Figure.

Where can I trade Vinylmation Figures with Cast Members?
