Central Florida’s “coolest” holiday attraction is returning to Gaylord Palms Resort & Convention Center this winter. ICE! Gaylord Hotels’ signature attraction will transport guests through an enchanted indoor world of two million pounds of hand-carved ice November 20 – January 2, 2011. Returning for its eighth season, this year’s whimsical ice wonderland will reflect the theme “’Twas the Night Before Christmas,” taking guests through eight dramatic holiday scenes that tell this beloved holiday story. The colorful, larger-than-life, 3-D ice sculptures of beloved storybook characters, slippery ice slides, and memorable holiday scenes will delight and dazzle guests of all ages – all in a chilly nine-degree environment.

“Not only is the artistry amazing to enjoy, but the brisk environment inside the attraction creates a winter holiday experience like no other in the Sunshine State – rosy cheeks and all!” said Johann Krieger, Senior Vice President and general manager of Gaylord Palms. The attraction is carved by a team of 40 artisans from Harbin, China. The talented artists spend nearly an entire month in Kissimmee, Fla. creating this one-of-a-kind attraction.

ICE! is one of the many highlights of Gaylord Palms’ “Best of Florida Christmas Celebration,” where guests will be dazzled daily at Luminescence, a high-energy, high-spirited modern musical journey into Christmas. Visitors can also enjoy music from yesterday and today while listening to a capella style Christmas Carols in the holiday-themed 4.5 acre atrium. Shows take place daily at the resort throughout the Best of Florida Christmas Celebration.

A new addition to the attractions at Gaylord Palms this year will feature a new winter wonderland made of real snow, up to 40 tons of it to be exact!! SNOW! will be a fun for kids and adults! Guests can experience a snow play area, complete with carnival-style games including “Frosty Ring Toss,” “Elf Bowling,” a snowball throw game and carnival themed food carts with snow cones, cotton candy and very special “snowberrys” .
