Which WDW restaurant that offers a buffet style meal is, in your opinion the best?
It can be with or without characters but I'm only interested in the food on offer.

Hmmmmm.... Boma.
For us, it has to be dinner buffets, we found the breakfast ones to be very similar, just a few differences here and there...
So for dinner
Hands down Cape May at The Beach Club... I am so glad we followed Tink's suggestion ... the food was just WONDERFUL, and the place is really nice, and the atmosphere is so relaxed... :)
A second favorite would be 1900 Park Fare, and you even get characters in this one :)

Crystal Palace is still my favorite. Have not yet been to Boma though.

I love the breakfast foods at Chef Mickey's. But the lunch at Crystal Palace was fantastic.
I tried Boma, but did not like it at all. I didn't even care for the small desserts. I know folks, there is obviously something wrong with me. ;)
Thank goodness people have said how lovely crystal palace is, we are going there for the first time! Itll be the first buffet we have done at wdw

I have to agree, We've been to Boma several times but really we like the atmosphere better than the food. We found it just ok. We do like the Crystal Palace !

This is DH's favorite hands down. He loved the curry there.
For me - it's the breakfast buffet at Boma. The ham and eggs are delicious.

This year we loved! Loved! Loved! Tusker house at the Animal Kingdom. We had an early reservation at 4pm so it was very quiet. It feels very spaced out, so doesn’t have that feeling of being on top of other people at other tables. Our server was charming and funny and we all enjoyed the food immensely. There was a nice balance of ethnic spicy and plain. The highlights for me were the veggie couscous and the lamb mild curry. I also had some spicy bean soup that was more warm and hearty than spicy. Liam also loved the salmon and plain eating Connor loved the Mac and Cheese. Alan my hubby well as usual he made it his challenge to try a bit of everything hehehehehe!
Veggie couscous yuuuum!

Alan and the bean soup, Oooooh I could go a plate of that today.

We were also impressed with the quality of food at the 1900 park fare dinner. We had had dinner at the Crystal Palace and Cape May but the quality and choice at 1900 park fare was better.
Foreverducky and Tinkfan, you are not alone! Boma was incredible when it first opened. Now, it's fallen off so much we don't even consider going there. Tusker House is better than Boma in our books.
But (drum roll please) the very best buffet???? CAPE MAY!!! Like you didn't know that was coming. It's been consistently good for years, and years. Some changes here and there, but overall in all the times we've been there, only once were there serious problems (the steam tables weren't working properly, so the shellfish were coming out very, very slowly).
Love the place for "best all 'round" buffet.

We have never been to Cape May either, will have to give it a go. So what's good there?
Everything. :D
We love shellfish, so are drawn to the clams and mussels. There is shrimp (boiled) too.
There are four sides to the buffet. Side "one" is the cold salad selection. Everything from ceasar, to regular to addtions.
Side two is the seafood side. Clam chowder and one other choice (often Chili) clams, mussels, shrimp, red potatoes, corn on the cob and fish (often salmon) cornbread (OMG so worth the carbs!) and other breads. Side three is a hodge podge of some desserts, carved beef roast and whatever the chef wants to add that day!
There is a children's corner with mac and cheese, and an ever changing variety (check it out, the chicken tenders are so gooooood)! LOL.
Side four is the non-seafood section with lovely ribs, chicken (I always have a bit of chicken here, it's roasted to perfection) a pasta dish, sausage and peppers, mash, other veggies, ect...
The desserts are now on a separate buffet table and do save room!!! All sorts, but the flan is my favorite.

make sme want to go back.. NOW!
We loved it!!!
The clams were delicious, and the different sauces to try with the clams... yummmmmmmmmm!
I'm so glad you liked it Mari! I really like the little clams. Sweet, and not so big that you have to worry about little guys (who LOVE clams, too) choking.
