Thanks so much :hug2: we're very glad to be here!

Well we arrived after a long long day. Interesting, well moderately , to see that immigration had changed from the "choose your queue" style to a disney like snaked queue where they take each family individually from the front and send you to a free desk. Felt fairer really.

The ESTA process has finally done away with filling in the green forms YAY only the one customs declaration to fill in now which is definitely an improvement.

It's pretty cold here at Disney which of course I love and DW well, doesn't

Absolutely no idea what we're going to do today, whatever we stumble into I guess  how's that for impulsive :)

Hope all is well back at home for you all

Glad to hear that you arrived safe and sound Keith.
That "snake type" queue at Immigration does seem to speed up the process doesn`t it?

Enjoy your holiday and have fun.

Still in the 60s temperature wise

We went to EPCOT on our first night, nice meal at the nine dragons followed by a walk round to france for some champagne whilst watching the fireworks. Special christmas illuminations are already on which extends it by a good few minutes and is even more spectacular.

Charleys steakhouse for last night's dinner. I'm still full and likely to be for another couple of weeks which is a bit of a problem since we're off to the sci-fi diner in a couple of minutes  then it'll be the great movie ride and the art of animation "draw a character" academy which is always fun :)

Later we have the Hoop Dee Doo :D

Still can't believe I'm missing the snow back home though :( can someone post some? or hey, perhaps it'll get low enough out here to snow :D

Get all that cold weather out of the way now, so it is miraculously tropical for my arrival on 26th January :D

Sounds great so far Keith. Has your DH requested a new handbag to make up for having to put up with the cold weather yet? :D I would!!

There are a couple of Charley`s in the Orlando area but the one that Keith and I frequent is on US192 West close to the Celebration entrance road.

So far we've been to the Luau, hoop dee doo, florida mall, magic kingdom extra magic hours...

The weather is still very c c c cold though. Last night for EMH it was touching on freezing point. Supposed to go back up to 70s for the weekend, then down to 50s again next week. It's weird to see people walking around in blankets and huge coats.

The Luau is often canceled for such conditions but surprisingly went ahead. However, it was cut very short. From the time we sat down to the time we got up to leave, exactly one hour :/ hardly any interaction with the audience, lots of bits cut out. It may have been better to cancel it to be honest.

The hoop dee doo was as good as ever :D

Not sure what's on the agenda today yet. Hope all is well with you all, what am I missing back home?

ooo I forgot. We tried the golden corral for the first time every yesterday. I know it may not be the poshest location in the world  but I gasped when I walked in and saw the choice available in the buffet. Seriously amazing and all piping hot the whole time.

We went to the vineland road one recommended by Tink. Spotlessly clean, good service and $7.99 per person which just doesn't compute given the range of food included.

Afterwards, feeling full, we thought well we may as well walk to the premium outlet mall because it can't be far can it? hmmmm that was possibly a mistake  anyway it was a pleasant enough walk in this weather but I wouldn't want to do it in normal Orlando heat.

You WALKED to Premium? Ohforheaven'ssake!!!! :nono: That is NOT a good road to be walking along!

Golden Corral has an amazing array don't they? LOL. Happy to hear that it was nice for you. They aren't always (and some of them, not at all).

Speaking of freezing it's wicked cold here right now! What's up with THAT? Sheesh.

I'm ready for at least 70 to return and stay (and yes, I mean into the night)!

Take care now and continue to have a wonderful time!

Lovely view Keith. You can't ask for much better than that.

keith
15-12-2010, 04:11 PM
except I'm tired this morning through spending most of the night watching the castle change colours and the buses coming and going

Seriously awesome view though. With the frequent deals on bay lake tower rooms MK view, it really is something of a bargain i think.

oh one more thing, we're flying home tomorrow soooo if everyone can blow the snow away from manchester airport please. Ideally it would snow everywhere except manchester airport and the m6/m58 so I can get home. That way I'd get the nice white scenery without being stuck anywhere

At the moment Keith I don`t think there is any snow at Manchester...certainly here it is as clear as a bell.
Snow is forecast though but it`s anyone`s guess how far south it will travel.
Safe flight home, snow or no snow.

It really was a superb view, didn't half make it hard to leave though!

Every time I woke up, first thing I saw was the castle. Every evening was a private wishes fireworks show with the music piped in on channel 20 on the in room tv.

The room itself was just a "deluxe studio - theme park view bay lake tower". After discounts etc. it was about $200 a night and to be honest, I'd have paid that just for the view of wishes!

THAT was your view? OMG - thats like the view we had when we were inside the park, thats beautiful!!! I often wondered what they did at night time, whether they switched everything off or not - mustve been beautiful staying up and just watching the castle

Hopefully you're all safe and snug at home now - blooming cold innit?!

Oh it was truly wonderful. I'm usually ready to leave, strange as it may sound!, knowing I'll be back soon. This time I could've just spent forever watching the view.

It stays lit for hours after park closing just changing colours. At closing time all the buses came and I could see them all queuing up and the hoards of people. The main sound was the BEEP BEEEEP BEEEP of the buses lowering themselves to load wheelchairs etc.

Gradually it all died away just leaving a strange quiet, fewer lights and the castle just changing colours gradually. Of course even better with the icicle christmas display on it.

Eventually the lights went out but it was still visible and just looked like it was asleep for the evening :) the park was still very much lit though with all the people cleaning it etc. Plenty of backstage activity just about viewable

Hopefully you're all safe and snug at home now - blooming cold innit?!

I am thanks :) just made it before the mega-snowfall

Absolutely amazing Keith. How did you manage to get such a great view and where did you get all the discounts?

Well the discounts were nothing particularly special. I started off booking rack just to make sure of the room for the dates ages ago, then as different discounts opened up I swapped :/ AP, pin code etc. Everytime a new one arrived in my email there seemed to be a better rate albeit slim availability. I really think BLT is a bargain at the moment, I'm sure it won't always be that way.

In terms of view, well as far as I know there's only one side of the building, the front, that's classed as theme park view since the sides don't face in that direction. So I just selected it online! The only problem we've seen with BLT is that once, despite selecting and paying for theme park view, we were allocated a room on a low level which afforded a great view of the monorail but really got in the way of the Castle. A quick moan and we were relocated to a higher floor. I don't know if they've learned and stopped allocating lower rooms as theme park view since we haven't had the problem since that time. (The contemporary has always classified lower floors even on the MK side as cheaper non-mk view rooms but BLT doesn't seem to have such a category)
