Just got this update..
Dear Potential Class Member:

This notification is being sent to you regarding a proposed settlement that has been reached in a class action lawsuit. The lawsuit alleges that British Airways Plc and Virgin Atlantic Airways, Ltd. unlawfully conspired to fix prices of fuel surcharges imposed on “long-haul” passenger fares. Long-haul flights include most flights between the U.K. and non-E.U. destinations, including flights to and from the United States. All flights on Virgin Atlantic qualify as long-haul. Tickets must have been purchased between 11 August 2004 and 23 March 2006.

Attached to this email are copies of the court-ordered Notice and a Claim Form that you can file to apply to participate in the Settlement. Members of the Class who file a valid claim will be paid 33.3% of the passenger fuel surcharge they paid on qualifying coupons. Refund payments will range between £4 and £20 per passenger per round-trip ticket purchased in the U.K. and between $7 and $34 per passenger per round-trip ticket purchased in the U.S.

For more information about the terms of the proposed Settlement, please read the attached legal notice. You may also visit www.airpassengerrefund.co.uk. If you would prefer to file a Claim Form electronically, there is an on-line Claim process available on the website.

Please do not reply to this message. We are unable to respond to inquiries in reply to this email. If you wish to contact the Settlement Administrator, you may do so by writing to info@airpassengerrefund.co.uk. There is also an information helpline at 0 800 043-0343 (U.K. Free Phone).

This e-mail is being sent to potential Class Members as required by the Settlement Agreement and under Order of the United States District Court, Northern District of California, San Francisco Division. This is not a recurring email. Recipients can unsubscribe by clicking on the link below.

Sincerely,

Settlement Administrator

I've just received two letters (yep the post has just come at 3.30pm :rolleyes008: ) to do with this, enclosing claim forms which must be completed and returned no later than 31st December 2012.

I'm confused, because it says you can complete it and post it to them or complete it online. Well I completed it online a while ago.

What should I do phone them up - there is a freephone number or complete it again and send it back

why do I get the feeling we'll be jumping through hoops for the next 20 years and sometime around 2030 we'll get a cheque for about 20p :rolleyes008:

Seeing as I had 12 flights in that period, I posted off my claim form to-day. Maybe I can retire on the proceeds.
Oh hang on, I am retired! Oh well never mind eh?

Oh no, I haven't filled them out yet, I wonder if it's just a mistake that they've sent them out, I might give them a call later.

Yes but then that's you paying and they also didn't enclose a SAE so by the time you spend phoning and sending stuff off, you've spent the refund. Or is that what they're trying to achieve?:(

Ok i have my forms, now does it count if you booked through Virgin holidays and also what if you booked in the timescale but flew after it.
Also what happens if you can not remember your flight number.

As I see it so long as you paid for your flights within the stated dates then the chances are that you were overcharged and hence you are entitled to a refund.
As long as you know the dates of your travel then the flight nos are irrelevant, although Virgin flights have the same no year on year. i.e. the early morning departure from Manchester is always VS 75 and the retutn to Manchester is VS 76. A quick check on the Virgin Atlantic web site should confirm the flight details from the other airports.
