They start in 8 days!!! :eek:

Where's all the hype and build up that we normally get? It's all been very low key. Or I've slept for the past 3 months.

Is anyone excited, or apathetic?

I completely love the olympics. In many ways it restores my faith in humanity to get along for a while - the Sydney olympics were epic - will always remember being up with Thomas just after he was born letting lisa get soe sleep watching Steve Redgrave win his last gold.

:D

very excited about 2012

You guys should be here - it's wall to wall already. :mad:

We even had endless hours today about one romantic couple who are both on the swim team who broke off their romance today. "will it affect their chances for gold" and endless footage of them snuggling up.

But then Aussies do take their sport waaay too seriously. :rolleyes008:

I always find myself getting totally engrossed in some obscure sport that has never interested me before. And I will of course stay awake for the entire duration of the games looking out for the 30 seconds of fencing that the BBC will show.

Skywatcher

How was that for advanced maths! :lol:

Olympics?

What Olypics?

We've had hardly anything on the TV here about them other than some stuff about the air quality.

All the Chicago TV stations are making a huge fuss about the city trying to host the summer games 20016 or something like that. The mayor of Chicago is going to China to meet again with the selection committee :rolleyes008:

What Dorothy said--almost nothing. 'Course, I don't watch a lot of television, so they could be ramping things up a bit.

Probably won't watch much, with the format the networks use to show the games these days. I don't have hours to sit in front of the television to watch a few minutes of a sport that I enjoy and hours of those I detest to get to the next few minutes of the one I enjoy. :shrug: :sigh;

I always like watching the gymnasts. Other than that, I don't usually watch too much.

I saw a report on how they'd employed the army to clear a shedload of green algae from the sailing venue. Apart from that, not a lot else. I love the equestrian events.

Me too and my TIVO is going to record just the parts I like to watch once I know the schedule.

Me too and my TIVO is going to record just the parts I like to watch once I know the schedule.

That's the problem for me--the schedule is very vague. Three or four sports (or more) in each segment with no specific time frame for each sport. :sigh;
It would be understandable if it were live, but it will be tape delay due to the time difference. :sigh;

I'm really into sighs today, aren't I? :lol:

I've seen loads of advertising for the Paralympics but not the general one.

I think it's because we're only allowed to watch cartoon network in this house though.

That could have just a small influence! :lol:
