Ive just seen a youtube video of the new magical memories show at the magic kingdom and now Im so excited to go see it live. Anyone know how it works? it must be a projection I guess but to be able to cover the castle is huge?

The entire show is projected onto the castle’s surface.

Months ago, Disney digitally mapped the nooks and crannies of the famous Cinderella Castle to produce this nightly show that makes each and every castle “brick” come alive with movement, color, and character, all to the tune of peppy music. And as part of Disney’s new Let the Memories Begin campaign, the new show features 500 pictures taken of Disney guests using PhotoPass throughout each day.

We have a little info and a video right HERE (http://www.wdisneysecrets.com/index.php/news/1-latest-news/1123-cinderella-castle-light-projection-show.html)

I must admit I fully expected this to be rubbish. I'd already seen the projection technology in a UK TV stations coverage of an election and though clever, I just couldnt see it being anything worth watching at the magic kingdom.

Well I was completely wrong. I think it's extremely clever and well done. The photos of families are only a small part of it and not really as overdone as I expected. The detail is incredible and you can forget if you're looking at the natural castle of a projection. Various things like the brickwork have been modelled and played with/coloured even down to really quite fine detail. Then there's stuff like fireworks which start as projections and then become live behind the castle. Talk about perfect syncronisation!

Really a must see

This will be a first for us this summer. I really wasn't going to bother but I'll take your word for it Keith and give it a try

To be honest, I was so disinterested in it when I heard about it that I hadn't even put it on my list of things to see but we turned up to the magic kingdom a little early for Wishes and as we stood by Casey's, the show started.

Very glad I saw it!
