Following on from the wedding cake I've been asked to make, I've been looking through my photos of cakes I've made over the years. I came across the church cake that put me off making wedding cakes altogether

I thought I'd share it with you so you can see why I stopped

I had a disagreement with the venue over where the cake was going, they wanted to put it on a landing up a flight if stairs - I refused, I had visions of someone coming down and knocking it over  So they stuck it in the corner  not a very good place at all.

Thank you :hug2: it took ages to make the flowers, clock tower, doorway and other bits.

I really was glad to see the back of it

That's what I was thinking too

I so would want to cry if someone cut into a cake that took me that long to make. Wendy you've got a real talent for cakes!!!!!!!!!!

Thank you :hug2:

The only time someone has cried was when I made a Thomas the Tank cake for my friend's son for his 4th or 5th birthday (he's 18 now!) She had taken the cake into the kitchen to cut it, when we heard this loud scream, we turned round and saw Daniel with tears running down his face and he said "don't kill Thomas"

Of course, we didn't bring that up at his 18th

Thank you DisneyAddict :)

Luckily she had seen the cake in a book, so I had a picture to follow. I made the cakes first as they were traditional fruit cakes and they are best left to mature for a few months. I then just took my time making all the accessories.
