Now, I have to say from the outset that I am the most technologically challenged person in the whole world. I mean I am so bad I even have to gather the kids around me to sort out the simplest of problems. The on and off buttons I understand, but it doesnt go much further. :shocked025:
Well, yesterday my new Lumix camera arrived and I am doing what my late hubby always told me to do (RTFM :p015:). I just love the camera and all its fuctions. It is so easy to operate and the pics are super sharp. So far it seems to be idiot proof and I am loving taking night pics, portraits, short movies etc.
At last a camera has been made for idiots and this idiot is loving it! :tongue0011-1: Maybe this year I will even be able to take firework pictures that arent blurred.:surprised010: Imagine that! Anyone else got this little beauty.

I don't have it but I did buy a Fuji in Feb that I love!

Do you have any pics you want to share?

I don't have that camera, but I do have a camera. The manual is not user friendly however. Reading the manual is good advice when it was written in comprehensible terms. Someone did a poor translation from the Japanese as far as I'm concerned!

Good that you are having nice results from your's!

I heard that Fujis were really good and have seen very sharp photos taken by friends. Tink, Ive been able to upload pics from the Mac Book to the gallery but now I havent a clue how to get the one I want from the gallery to this post. :shocked025: Normally I click and copy properties and I dont seem to be able to do that. The one taken with the Lumix is one of the front garden (in the gallery). It isnt great as the grass has just been treated and looks awful. I told you I was technologically challenged.

Mags I'm off next year to WDW and want to take night photos of the fireworks. Been looking at cameras that are idiot-friendly but still good. Would you recommend the camera for fireworks?

I think it's a heck of a good camera! It's got a proper 10x optical zoom in a pretty small package which is unusual! As well as all the latest stuff like face detection.. especially considering the price!!

Ooooo this is your first time there with a DSLR nutty isnt it? you'll have a GREAT time.

You can get GREAT fireworks shots with the 400d, maybe we should have a thread on firework shooting tips?

You could do with one of these cool tripods if you dont already have one... you can attach them just about anywhere

I bet I will mess up with the fireworks.Fujis have a great reputation, dont they Mick?Keith the 400D is fantastic and I have seen some of the great photos taken and posted on forums but in my hands I dont think I would do it justice. Lets see how the fireworks pics go in a week or two. I hope they wont be one big blurry mess. :shocked025:

is it able to really grip onto something and keep the camera still?

The gorilla pod stuff is superb it really is but if that can wrap around something pretty large and still keep the camera still then thats all you need really

Nice sharp photo Mick. go on - buy one! You know you want to. Keith, it has a fireworks setting. What a gift to the photographically challenged! I cant wait to test that one out, especially at Illuminations.
PS Keith, I am still having the same problem uploading to the Seaworld galley - frustrating!

It's so easy to use with a great zoom and it's excellent for close-ups too.

Yes, the fireworks setting is really handy and produces good results. :)
