Is it neccessary to make reservations at the casual dining places. We want to come and go as we want and not be on a schedule. Can you recommend any places that we could possibly eat lunch & dinner @ without making reservations??? Thanks!!!

Nowadays at is essential to make an ADR [Advanced Dining Reservation] at almost anywhere on WDW property apart from the food courts and fast food outlets.
Gone are the days when most of the on site restaurants are able to accept walk ins.
This is very frustrating as it now means that you have to decide when and where to eat 6 months in advance of your trip!

I guess that depends on what you mean by casual. In the MK you can walk right in at Casey's, Pecos Bills, etc. Any restaurant that isn't really considered a "sit down" restaurant you can generally just walk right in.

I'd say it depends on the time of year.
We were very surprised last summer after always goiung to WDW in the winter months at how easy it was to walk into a restaurant for a meal without an ADR. We may have just been lucky
However, I would say that no matter what time of year you go, if you really have your heart set on eating at a certain restaurant, then do try to make a reservation in advance.

The quick serves are the way to go for casual dining. You're in and out in no time and back to enjoying the park!

However, it's your vacation! Treat yourselves to a sit-down meal. Relax, take in the atmosphere!

You can go on the main site here to find info on the eateries. Or, if you look on WDW's site and have questions about any place in particular, feel free to post a question!

BTW - here's a list from the Disney World site of all the quick serves in all locations (http://disneyworld.disney.go.com/dining/listing/?fv_222817=on&resultSet=98&page=0).

Tom (:macwave:... where shall we eat?)

When we were there in Sept '09 we managed to get into a few restaurants, such as the Brown Derby and the Yak & Yeti, by asking at Guest services as soon as we entered the Parks in the morning.

If you'd rather eat at the Quick Service places, they are quietest before 12 and after 2.30. :)
