When you're 18, do your thing...but until then...listen to your mom.

You are gorgeous my dear.

Besides, IMO, the monroe would take away from your septum piercing...

LOL mine is a tribal spider...done in black. My hubby free handed it years ago when he a friend were thinking about going into Tattooing. He still wants to have a shop one day, but right now I am saving money to have mine touched up. At the time we did this we did not know spaulding ink was a rotten brand to use. So I have fade issues lol.

Since we are sharing..I have...

PsychoAlice across my lower back...above my waist..it takes up 1/3 of my back
A green and purple yin yang on my upper back (my little sister and I have matching ones)
A playboy bunny above and to m left of my belly button

In the very near future I will be getting a pink nautical star (left side) and a blue nautical star (right side) on the front part of my shoulders...each one having my kids' initials in them.

I wanted a tattoo. Very much so! I was about 18, 19? I was convinced that at the first chance I had, I was going to get one.

Then, one day in that "desiring a tattoo" time period I was in the grocery store. There was an old woman who came up beside me to get something off the shelf. She must have been about 80 (and that is ancient to an 18 year old). She had the old fashioned blue tattoos all over her arms. They were all collapsed and run into each other given the wrinkles on her skin.

That cured me.

There was a recent "issue" with the coporation that I work for. It seems that some facilities were having real problems with some of the elderly who live there. They were fearful, and calling in ombudsmen, etc. Ended up being traced to the many piercings in some of the direct care workers' faces. It simply scared the elders and made them think that they were unsafe. Now, no facial piercings beyond one set of earrings (one in each ear) are allowed. Major change in the comfort level of the seniors. We forget sometimes that our frame of reference is not someone else's, eh?

PsychoAlice
03-08-2008, 06:12 PM
Yea well we will all be in th nursing home playing a new game "guess what this tattoo used to be" instead of bingo!

We do indeed. Mine is on my ankle, and when I wear a skirt or dress capri's where it might show, I always cover it before going to work. I've never been asked to, but working in a school, for me, it just seems the right thing to do. It's by no means vulgar or suggestive in any way, I just feel more comfortable...and answer far fewer questions :D

Thanks guys, like I said I had it done the day my divorce was final....the butterfly signifies freedom (not to mention I just adore butterflies  ) and the yin yang represents the duality of heartache and love....

But mostly, I just think it's purdy

The first time I saw you Sarah, you had shorter, darker hair :)
as for that Monroe...OUCH OUCH OUCH!!!
My kids all waited until they had moved out before they got tattooed and pierced (other than ears). They know me so well
Then last year, I received the coolest Harley patch from a friend, and I loved it so much, I had it immortalized on my lower back!
Tink, I was the one who said I'd NEVER get a tat....now I'm looking for a Mickey one to put on my upper back. This is going to take awhile I think.
Annie...I LOVE that butterfly! I may steal it and put Mickey ears on it instead!

PsychoAlice
17-08-2008, 11:06 PM
It actually didnt hurt when I had it done..the day after and the week after...you dont realize how much you touch your face until you have it pierced lol
