Hoping you have some ideas on which one is better, the golden corral or the ponderosa?

Perhaps neither is good  is there another buffet place we should try instead?

Golden Coral is the best of the 2 (again imho) there's one just opposite Celebration which our boys like.

We're not so into buffets but of the 2 GC

Souplantation & Sweet Tomatoe's is very nice, we go there as we don't always eat meat and they have a very good selections of soups, salads, breads etc

We really enjoyed that one when we went last time! I was AMAZED by the choice and tbh, I know this is weird given the type of place, but the staff were mega friendly

Personally I would choose neither. I'm just not impressed.

I love buffets, as I'm a picky eater. I think that overall I have seen that Golden Corrals tend to be better. And I love the bourbon chicken that GC has, it's fabulous. :)

Personally I prefer ponderosa the one on the 192 opposite the old town Kissimmiee:yes: Kids love the chicken bites the steaks are good value, and a good variety of food in the buffet.:thumbsup:

GC has the biggest variety of food. One of our favourite meals from our last trip was a steak we had at the ponderosa, but we went back again on our trip and it wasnt anywhere near as nice.
Hmmm, id go for GC i think - they have nice puddings too!

I'm not a fan of either, but have eaten in both. Must admit it's been quite some time for Golden Corral, and closer to decades for Ponderosa.

Golden Corral totally depends upon the location. There is one near Vineland (the approach to Premium Outlets) near Bahama Breeze... not far from DTD... that one is do-able.

Ponderosa, well can't say much to recommend that. Had a family member who worked there in high school and that about did it for me. The vast majority of their offerings are reconstituted products. They also get very low health department ratings often.

Sweet Tomatoes can be decent, again depending upon which one you choose.

Seriously? The only buffets that I think are safe enough to patronize are those at WDW. They keep the temperatures right, and keep them clean both in front of the house and in the back. That is NOT the case with the majority of others.

We went to a Christmas buffet at a major Orlando area hotel one year. The entire buffet (extensive, with what would have been lovely selections) sat at room temperature and was horrible. The staff forgot to light the sterno, and to place the ice (for the cold dishes). NOT a good experience.

Sorry if I offend anyone but the last time I went into a Ponderosa for breakfast it was bad enough that the food was lukewarm and downright manky but what made it worse for me was the fact that the place was rammed with sunburned british tourists piling their plates up as if it was their last meal. Kind of put me off the place ya know.

We paid $40 for a breakfast for 3 at Denny's then got the exact same food for around $16 for 3 at GC. Guess where we ate after that and it was good and fresh too and the coffee was free too if you wanted it.

This is the one by marker 8 opposite the celebration turning. It was clean in there or we wouldn't have gone.

Not offended, we all have our experiences that are either good or bad, your post is just as valid.

Golden Corral is much better. In food quality and service.
Ponderosa may be a couple dollars cheaper but you get what you pay for, so dont expect much.

I would have to agree that GC is better ( the exception to the rule is in Erie PA. Don't ever, ever eat there!!!)
