More questions :)
Does anyone have any ideas on excursions or days out we could drive to in Orlando? Im thinking maybe something for non-park days where we want to do something totally different

You may find something of interest in our BEYOND THE PARKS or ANIMAL GUIDE TO FLORIDA sections which you can link to from the panel on the left.
Much depends upon your personal preference, of course. There is much to do in the greater Orlando area, as well as if you head west to the Tampa area.
There is Kennedy Space Center on the east coast, and easily accessible beaches on both coasts.
There are birds of prey sanctuaries, zoos, other parks (Sea World, Busch Gardens...Weekee Watchee Springs :D ) tons of shopping, little cruises in local lakes, visiting potential to some of the smaller cities like Winter Park...
Again, all depends upon what you like to do!

We are going to go to Mt Dora when we are out there as one of our non park days, it looks like such a lovely place and they also do a one hour Segway tour

Mt. Dora is a lovely quaint town. I would recommend a restaurant called Pisces Rising at Mt. Dora for dinner. [Assuming it`s still there as it has been a while since we last visited the place.]

The restaurant appears to still be there. Took a look at their menu and it looks wonderful. Was beginning to wonder what you found to eat though Terry as it appeared to be mostly seafood, but then saw some steaks.

We visited Mount Dora after it was recommended by Terry, it was about 2 years ago I think. We were really disappointed as most of the shops and been affected by the economic situation and had closed down :( We also went at the weekend and the only place that was busy was the Windsor Rose.
We have thought about visiting again but it was so sad to see such a beautiful place deserted I think we will leave it for a little longer.
You'll have to let me know what it's like :)
