I had to take my little bunny to the vet today to be put to sleep :( He was 13yrs old so he had had a good and long life. His health had deteriorated greatly over the last 48hrs and given his age i decided to go through an op and medication was just too much, so it was time to say goodbye. I cried in the surgery, little fighter didnt want to go to sleep and his injection took a very long time to do what it was supposed to do. Little bunny Harry is now buried in our back garden, i know he had a good life but it still doesnt make it easy :(

So sorry to hear Kate.

Depending on the breed that's a good long life for a bunny.

He was a little netherland dwarf, i never expected him to live for so long tbh but then my cat was 23 when i had to have her put to sleep - i must be doing something right with them!

Awww..I am so sorry to hear this :hug2:

It reminds me of my little Netherland dwarf Keek. We lost him last year- he was 11. My other bunny Floopy we lost the year before at 10. I miss them everyday and I'm just waiting for the moment where I end up with more.

It doesn't ever get easier :sigh:

Shelly, i remember when you lost your little bunny too :( Both of yours were good ages aswell werent they.
DD broke her heart yesterday when i got home from the vet, i wasnt expecting it at all as she didnt have that much to do with the rabbit and when we lost the cat not so long ago she was fine (much better than me!), it was a shock to me to see her get so upset. She is ok today though, thankfully

She has always had a bowel problem since we had her and the vet has always been able to resolve with medication. Sadly of recent medication has done nothing for her and she rapidly went down hill. They wonder if she was a carrier of FIP, guess we will never know. Her mum and sister both had the same problem and passed away recently, according to the breeder. :hug2:
