It was a 5.8 quake in Virginia actually but felt up in NY. They are currently evacuating the Pentagon and the White House.

There was also a 5.0 quake last night in Colorado.

My sister just called me, she lives in Rockaway Beach NY. She said that her tv and furniture shook a bit but nothing more than that. The quake hit closer to where john and johnie live. Hope they are ok

We are fine here in Upstate NY, but boy oh boy did we feel it. We had one not that long ago, so I knew what was happening. We just "rode the wave" until it was over.

I was worried about wdwgrandma and uscwest so I sent Donna a text to check on them.

She said they are both OK, just stuck in nasty traffic trying to get home. She said it was scary as she saw the wall move and her chair was bouncing around :( they were told to get out of the building.

I am so thankful they are OK.

Finally got home... It was awful! The building shook, my chair bounced around - with me in it - and the wall next to my desk moved! Wild! They were yelling for everyone to get out of the building!

Strangely enough the center was closer to us than anyone but I felt it the least! We were in the car waiting in the drive thru when the car shook twice. I had no idea what it was until everyone started calling to ask if I was ok.

There was an earthquake out in Colorado too. I called Sarah (Psychoalice) and she's fine too.

And here I thought I only needed to worry about the 'cane coming

Yeah, Johnie, that's what I was worrying about too. What next? Godzilla?????

Yeah, Johnie, that's what I was worrying about too. What next? Godzilla?????

I am so glad everyone is ok - I was so scared waking up to see that - it happened about an hour before I get up.

When I saw that the epicentre was near Johnie that was scary!

Stay safe everyone and don't scare me like that again!

I was in a moving vehicle and didn't know anything had happened till people at work started asking if I had felt it.

I felt enough while living in CA. No need for any more.

They were saying on the news that the plate system here on the East Coast is different than that of the West. This quake only occurred 3.7 miles below ground. That is why it was felt up and down the East Coast. They also said that you really can't compare a comparable quake in California (this one was 5.8) to the same one here. It is much more severe here because it does occur less deeply in the ground.
