Hi,

I have just brought a new car, Audi A3 2000. It will be named as Audrey(!) Seriously....Audrey!

I was recommend to use Redex petrol additives to clean the injections etc. I keep reading a mix reviews, I am wondering if anyone here ever used one and how it fared?

Thanks, it was a bit of saga, had to take it back to dealer as there was a problem with electric.

Just been told it has been fixed and Audrey should be home tomorrow!

It my first Audi and it 11 years old but so far it running really well.

The only dilemma I have is if I should take it to Audi for proper service (as far as I am aware it hasn't had any Audi service) or use garage across my office (they are really good and I completely trust them)

at 11 i would go to the garage across the road, it won't make any difference when you go to re sell the vehicle and if you trust a garage that's good!

Fair point, however, I am wondering if Audi would be able to spot any problem as they would know the car well?

They will do a free MOT next year if I do service with them.....

Oh cool, not to worry with an 11 year old audi, DW has a 1998 A4 Quatro and it runs like a top. They are built to last.

We've stopped going to dealers now our cars are over 5 years old, found a reliable and cheaper independent and I'm happy with that. They even valet the car for you!

Congratulations on Audrey  Chris used to use redex years ago when he had a Ford RS2000. I'll ask him what he thinks, he's away tonight so I won't know until tomorrow evening though. I know a friend uses an additive because the unleaded petrol plays up with the injectors on his car.

It's difficult with the servicing, but I think I would go to a garage you know and trust.

Just because it's a main dealer doesn't mean that they will pick anything up  a friend had a Galaxy and it went into the Ford main dealer 3 times and each time they said it was something else, but the problem was still there. In the end, it was taken to someone Chris knows and it turned out the head gasket was leaking
