I have to be honest and confess that it has been so long since the last trip that I kind of began to take less and less interest in all things Disney because we never knew when the next trip would be.

But now we have a countdown and I'm seeing references in posts to things I'm not aware of.

So what is new in Disney since 2003? And how do you rate it? And is there anything slated to open in the near future? And has anything gone?

Mission Space?

Soarin

Expedition Everest

The Nemo show

The car stunt jobbie

erm.... they were the 'newish' stuff last time we went

I know it's not as profound as a new ride or anything but for me it's the lights on the castle. I'm a night owl and I love disney at night, seeing this for the first time just made me gasp

Spaceship Earth has been nicely refurbished as has Haunted Mansion. The changes to Spaceship Earth are far more noticeable than those to HM (for those of us who are not total HM devotees)!

Price of strollers have made them last resort items. Buy a cheapo and leave it behind. You'll be further ahead. (Won't need one for Steven, but just saying). :)

Many new food selections at counter service places. WDW is trying to improve the choices in selection and options. There are whole grain breads now, apple/fruit slices for children instead of french fries, etc. You can still get the traditional choices, but you have to substitute them in. The menus default to the healthier choice.

New babies at AK. :D But that is always the case. You just have to know where to look!

How are the kid's menus?

Steven won't eat those chicken nugget, hot dog, burger things.

Is there a new Toy Story thing I heard about or was that a weird dream?

Oh the new Toy Story attraction at DHS is wonderful! :smiley4: You all will love that!!!

The menu selections vary from counter service to counter service of course, but there are bona fide sandwiches (like tuna on whole grain with lettuce, etc) and chicken that is real, not processed into squares. Nice selection of salads. You can acutally get veggies into yourselves now. :D

I'm not super good on the menus as we don't often eat at counter service, but I did notice the new changes on a recent visit.

Tink

Yes, I guess it must have? But don't ask me what! I'm not a huge DHS person and only went there for the AP event for the new attraction. Hadn't been there in ages prior to.

Toy Story Mania is in where Who Wants to be a Millionaire used to be.

And adults can get those apple slices too instead of fries.

Oh good, never liked that Millionaire thingy except when we did the studio tour and we were the group who answered the phone when the contestant did the "phone a complete stranger" and the contestant was hysterically unintelligent and I'm sure the studio audience must have heard our tour group laughing in the background.

Im sure it was rigged! Every answer right within hundreds of a second and I end up 450th and some bozo gets 1st who then struggles to answer anything including his name! I'm not buying it

That's why I didn't recognize what used to be there. Hated that show. :rolleyes2:

What about the new place that's got Mike from Monsters Inc in it. That's a great place to go so long as you hide so that you don't get picked on which happened to my DD

 I did it once and thankfully didn't get picked so i will never chance my luck there again  It's great fun though if you don't spend the whole time worrying about your face appearing on the big screen :shocked025:

Everest is my new best ride at Disney - it's amazing :D

Was Mickey's PhilharMagic open when you were there in December, 2003, Dawn? I'm thinking it was.

Monsters Inc. Laugh Floor (I think that's the name) is new. Was Stitch open in 2003? I'm thinking it opened in 2004. It replaced AE. Please note the neutral tone here!

In FW, there's a new Nemo ride--very gentle ride--along with Turtle Talk with Crush. Not sure when the latter opened. Soarin', update to Spaceship Earth, addition of milder version of Mission: Space. Actually, I think Mission: Space opened in 2004, but perhaps it was 2003. Since Leu was with me in 2003, it wasn't even a consideration if it was open. She suffers from serious motion sickness.

DHS has Lights, Motors, Action! from DLP, the new Toy Story Mania, and the Block Party Bash, which replaces the Stars and Motor Cars parade. The Backlot Tour was shortened.

AK has EE, Finding Nemo show--not sure what else might be new there, to be honest. I wasn't able to go there my last visit and only a short time the previous one.

Is there any High School Musical things we need to avoid?

Mickey's Philharmagic was there last trip but it always broke down while we were in line for it. :D

HSM, currently yes, probably into 2009, depending on how well HSM3 does.

Who knows--by the time you visit the HSM franchise may have extinguished itself.

I really enjoy Mickey's PhilharMagic. Usually not much of a wait, these days. It's also a seated theatre with nice A/C. Be sure to note for when you're tired and hot! :)

There are whole grain breads now

Now that is good news!

The parade? That's sad, I really enjoyed that one.

Everest is great!

There is loads of Hannah Montana and High School Musical stuff in EVERY shop. It's getting tedious IMO.

The new Toy Story mania is so much fun! It's much better than Buzz Lightyear.

I am not thrilled with the changes to the narration of Spaceship Earth. It's like History for Dummies :(

You'll run into High School Musical singers doing portions of the show in DHS. Usually near the hat.
