:overhere: Anyone ever flown with them? Any feedback would be great. Also wondered if it was worth mentioning to them that we were traveling with an Autistic child. Would it make any difference them knowing?

i flew to new york with them in 2006. The seats in economy were bigger and seemed more comfortable. Alcoholic drinks were extra, food was normal airline standard but you go quite reasonable portions.

I would be intrested to know as well, we fly to New York in November with them.
Are you aware you have to pay for your luggage. We are lucky as we booked before they made the changes.

No! How? When? Where? How much? We've not been told this!

We flew from Boston to Manchester UK, everything went fine, and they do have more leg room

mainecoon lover, Just checked the terms of the baggage charge and it appears it only applies to domestic flights not flights that originate from outside the US.

Yep I was worried about that - but if your travel originated internationally you don't have to pay!
Phew!

American Airlines, whose parent AMR Corp. is based in
Fort Worth, Texas, charges for checked bags and offers $3 snack
options and $5 hot meals on longer flights.
Just an FYI

AA are one of the better ones in my opinion! I would definitely let them know about the autism, I bet they'll go out of their way to make sure you have a great flight

OK - the way it is worded on AA's website is kind of odd - but I think you won't have to pay.

I am on Northwest and I know I don't - have taken a printout from their website in case I get any grief!

Well I'm ringing their customer services tomorrow regarding Owen so I'll ask about the baggage at the same time. Thanks for the help everyone.

Update - There will be no baggage fee as we are on an international ticket from Heathrow to Orlando via Chicago and they have made a note of Owen's condition on their system!
One less thing to worry about!

I hope their flight crew is better than their customer service people! I have had the most horrendous customer service with them. I am flying to CA with them next week. I booked before they made the announcement about charging for a bag but I swear I bet we'll be charged anyway. I will never, ever book them again based on how their customer service people acted on several different occasions.

I flew quite regularly with AA when on business trips to the States and Mexico, flying from Manchester to Chicago and the onto my final destinations via a connecting flight. I never had any complaints with them and their business class seats were among the best I`ve ever been on.
You could almost have a game of tennis between your seat and the one in front of you there was so much legroom.
Our installation engineers who mainly flew economy also rated AA very highly.
