As many of you may know (because you've watched it happen), apparently my children have gone ahead and grown up without my express permission. Christmas, while still a very special time for us, has taken on a very different perspective. So this year as we were discussing "Christmas Lists" Baleigh said, "We have everything, mom, why don't we just take a trip?" Of course, I tried to play it cool. "That's interesting. If we did that, where do you think you'd like to go?" My beautiful 19 year old son and 13 year old daughter immediately and in unison shouted, "LET'S GO TO DISNEY WORLD!!!!"

And i thought...why not?

And so, we are :D :D :D

A REAL DISNEY CHRISTMAS.

I'm a little overwhelmed :)

:wave:It's good to see you back and yes they do grow up! Fantastic news, where will you stay?

Thanks, Tinkfan :hug2:

It's been agreed that we will stay at the resort "that started it all." The first on-site resort we ever stayed in, All Star Sports.

Christmas at Disney is such a fun experience! It's great that your children are into it.

Here's a great idea from the past. It's a little trickier now, but still fun.

Set a dollar limit (say $5 per) and visit each country in the world showcase. Purchase something within those limits and fill their stockings. It's a GREAT way to enjoy Christmas morning, especially if you have them guess which country each little giftie came from.

We are going to be doing it again this year. :D (You do know we're going to Disney for Christmas too, yes)?

How cool is that?

Way to go, Christmas at Disney has to be one of the greatest things..I think I love the vintage style decorations along the streets of Disney Studios. Love the light show and the "snow" . It is really festive outside of Mama Melroses. Always Christmasy there.

Great that your kids want to go at their age.

My DD wanted to celebrate her 21st birthday at WDW so we are going this Jan. Woo hoo.

I hadn't thought about Mama Melroses being so festive...wonder if I can book an ADR there....maybe for Christmas Eve?

..and your kids want to take a trip with YOU to DISNEY!! I don't think there has ever been a greater Christmas gift than that. At the age where kids want to be with their friends to have them choose some special family time is pretty special. I hope our family grows up to be like yours

You don't have much time...GET PLANNING!!!

The Osbornes? He he:tongue:

HAHA! Yes!

John, funny you should say that. Andrew (who is now working as a server at Outback Steakhouse, and quite proud of the "bank" he is making) offered to toss his paycheck into the Disney fund until December, and just operate on tips he makes.:eek:

Hey, it's a step in the right direction!!!

So as I was chatting with Baleigh this evening while we made dinner and I mentioned the Mama Melrose's ADR for Christmas Eve. She stopped midair through sorting the flatware and said, "Christmas Eve?" I continued without really thinking, "Oh yeah, I forgot to to tell you...we finally settled on dates!" (Originally we were only planning on being there Dec 15-20) She said, "Ok....what dates?" "The 15th - 26th." "Wait. Does that mean we'll be there ON Christmas?? For Christmas? Like, we'll wake up on Christmas Day and be IN Disney World?" "Um, yes. Generally speaking that is *exactly* what that means." I said.

I turned away from the stove just in time to see my typically-unmoved-by-anything-teenage daughter crying into the silverware drawer. She then hurled herself at me in a hug so sincere it took my breath away.

"I can't wait. This is totally awesome."

PPPPHHHHHHT. And I had doubts that this wouldn't be a good idea. Silly me.

Disney Florist has a tree. No price listed so I imagine its expensive. http://www.disneyflorist.com/product/disneyfloralandgifts-waltdisneyworldflorist-Tree-Christmas-Wish-Disney/display

You could always get a little one shipped to you. Or you could have an awesome person drive you over to Target and get a little one
