buses and subway etc. I have no idea how hard/easy it is to navigate my way around New York's attractions.
Do the buses/subway run regular? Are they expensive? Any special deals?
If you've experienced New York transport, I'd love to hear your thoughts.

Let's see...cost first...$2.50/ride (with free transfers) or I *believe* you can buy a single day fun pass (though I'm not sure of the cost). You can also buy a 7-day unlimited pass for $29 that is good for unlimited subway and local bus rides until midnight, 7 days from day of first use.
A couple of great links:

As far as "thoughts or experiences": I personally LOVE the public transportation NYC has to offer and use it quite frequently. I will, however, be the first to admit that it can be a bit confusing...so my best advice is to PLAN PLAN PLAN. Subs and busses are great, taxis are "ok" if you must. NEVER, EVER, EVER take a gypsy cap (even if the NYC police officer vouches for him) at *best* you'll get fleeced...at worst, well....just don't do it.

The one thing we found was that (unlike London) the subway pretty much goes uptown/downtown and if you want to go across town you take a bus or walk, with the odd exception of around 42nd street where the subway does go across. I think what I'm trying to say is that it doesn't criss-cross like the London underground does so it's definitely worth planning routes in advance!

Thanks guys. :hug2:
Great links Becca - they're now on my fave list.
Have to look into the pass if you can use it on buses and subway
