The Atlanta Braves are said to be upset with Pixar Animation Studios about the
title of their newest film, "Brave"

The film, due to be released this summer is said to have the baseball team up in arms saying that the title can't be used because of the Braves' trademark. There have been several objections about the title and the two companies are now in private negotiations working toward a settlement. One of the reasons the baseball organization is said to be upset is that the players are often referred to as a "Brave."

The film is not about baseball, but is about a skilled young female archer who defies the traditions she has grown up with and learns the true meaning of bravery.

That's ridiculous!

As a resident of Atlanta Braves territory I just have a hard time believing this. How petty. I won't be going back to the stadium here anytime soon.

Oh for Pete's Sake. How absolutely stupid. There isn't anything better for them to do (like get ready for spring training and try to win a few)?

Utterly ridiculous, how can you patent an adjective! If a settlement is being discussed and money changes hands that will be utterly sickening

I could see if maybe it was a movie about a baseball team, but one has nothing to do with the other. They should sick to playing their game..

If there is ANY logic left in this world, the "negotiations" had BETTER go something like this:

Braves: You can't use it, it encroaches on our franchise branding.

Disney: It's an adjective. You cannot own an adjective. And really? You're all idiots. But for the record, everything we touch turns to flippin' gold, so you WISH you'd be so lucky to be associated with our name. People might start coming to YOUR games because of OUR movie.

Braves: OMG, you're right. We are! Can we please give you some money for your trouble?

OMG, I'm currently reading the Steve Jobs biography and you would not believe how much this sounds exactly like his form of negotiation. Except this one's milder.

Tom (:macwave:... negotiation through intimidation...)

Well, this *is* a Disney friendly site, I self-edited quite a bit :) Otherwise the entire reply would have looked like this:

"Are you ******* serious? *** ***** **** *** *** and if you did *****. Furthermore, *** ***** ***** ** ****** **** ***!!!!!"
