Well after what seems like an eternity, here we are at Manchester airport in the escape lounge.

Bit different today since we're traveling on the later flight, vs073 which leaves at 2pm. So the whole day has been very different from the usual 5am up and travel to the airport!

The vs073 flight is using the old trust 747s (more engines can't be bad right?) and we're upstairs in the bubble in 79A&C pretty much our favourite seats.

Although not looking forward to the 9 hour flight, I feel more awake and ready for it than usual given the timings

The escape lounge is the same as ever, nice and relaxing. They have more food than is available for the early flights, so sandwiches and things like that. We're in courtesy of Barclays premier banking, one of the better benefits! Whether it's REALLY worth the dosh if you don't get it free I dont know :/ at least at this time of day I can have some wine without feeling like it's too early ;-)

We should arrive at MCO about 6pm their time, 11pm UK time and from there, it'll be across to Dollar to pick up our car, hopefully a nice Dodge Charger and then onto publix for provisions. Finally arriving at the wonderful villa around 8:30pm or so I hope. :D

The Chinese restaurant by publix does those little chinese boxes we always see on US programmes  so we may have to stop by for some of that.

Ah, we have a nice little Dodge Charger :D

We have had some rainy stormy weather these last few days that have changed our plans :( but the local Certified Meteorologist (got to love the fact they don't just have a Weatherman!) says it will start clearing when we leave on Thursday to be a beautiful weekend, so it should all be good for you! Honestly, they should start renting us out to countries who need rain or cold, as we always seem to bring it! :D

They've arrived.

Not sure if Keith got his wish for dramatic storms. Weather forecast was full of warnings for violent thunderstorms and tornados when I received his arrival text.

They didn't hit us, but were covering just east of here to the coast.

So, Keith!!! YOOOOOHOOOOO! Are you both ok?

We have had a ton of thunderstorms and rain here Tink. Last night was the 4th night in a row that we have had almost constant rain, and thunder and lightning, as well as two days/evenings last week. Seems like today will be the same so we are looking for another bar to fall into this evening on our last night! We did notice on our way to the Contemporary on a rainy evening last week that the rain literally stopped from one side of the road to the other, the other side wasn't even damp! So strange!

So, all of the things we have missed because of the weather just means we HAVE to come back next year and do them again :D

Just back from a nice evening at the downtown disney cinema watching the avengers. Good fun :)

It's been pouring down all day really with nice storms to watch. I'm happy enough but I think dw is ready for the sun to come out so she can sunbathe.

Tomorrow we have the luau.. I say that with a mischievous giggle because I don't really think it'll happen in this weather. The Luau is the most easily called off show in our Disney experience being cancelled for rain, cold, thunder etc. worse than that though, they often do a reduced show, just over an hour. No money back just less than half the normal show which I think is a complete rip off! So we'll see what happens!

Did you do the dine-in option at AMC?

Tink
17-05-2012, 08:01 AM
Yes, catrancher sometimes it can be one side of the street with rain, and the other with sunshine! I've had it happen at home where it was raining at the front of the house but not at the back!

Deb, I cannot believe your weather! Shows you that asking me is rubbish. We've not had a bit of rain until yesterday evening and then it was a brief, light sprinkle. I hit a bit on the way home, and could see the dark skies, but that was it.

Keith, you are never eating at Ruby Tuesday!  I've heard they've improved loads over the past year. How was it?

Find any bargains in the mall?

Lovely meal at the california grill last night. I know the place can be a little inconsistent and is almost certainly overpriced but sitting there next to the window, looking out at the fireworks over the castle, champagne in hand, it was hard to fault the experience.

Food wise, i had the usual filet of beef with bbq sauce lovely as ever and perhaps a larger portion than I've been accustomed to from there. DW had the lamb and there was definitely a lot of that but although nice, it wasn't as nice as the lamb at say charleys or ruths chris (and was more expensive).

All in all a lovely evening

Today is star wars day at Hollywood Studios and then later we're not sure. We have bistro de paris booked at EPCOT in time for the fireworks so that's tempting...

TBH Keith, I really can`t remember what I ordered the last time we were there.

Suffice to say the I [being a carnivore], and my DW [only eating fish or chicken], have never been disappointed with the menu on offer.

It would be good if you could blag a window seat for the fireworks. The view is not really spectacular, although we have been there on occasions when they have allowed folks out to view Illuminations and then return to finish their meal after the fireworks had finished which was a nice touch.

oooo I DO have some on my camera somewhere..... but just to round off...

We came home on an old, tired poor 747 sniff sniff but in premium economy. I do like the 747s and I think once upgraded inside by the end of the year, they'll be great again!

The premium economy new meal service was pretty good in fairness! smoked salmon was nice etc and the service from the staff was excellent.

Pictures below.... note the lovely salt and pepper shakes in the form of little planes with "pinched from virgin atlantic" on the bottom ..... So it said, so shall it be done  WINK 11709.vB11710.vB

DW disowned me for pinching them and I started feeling guilty, so when they came round to collect the empties, I said.. I wouldnt normally pinch things but these are so cute and Ive probably had too much brandy.

She laughed and said that's what theyre there for, do you want another couple?
