Has anyone gone to see Brave?

Ive read mixed reviews, both about the plot and the amount of violent scenes for little ones.

Have two very little little ones, now Im wondering if we should simply skip it for the time being, Im afraid it could be too gairy for the girls.

Any input?

Thanks!

I saw it over the weekend. I thought a couple of scenes with the bears were a bit intense and could frighten small ones. No one in the theater seemed frightened though.

Another issue some people are having is the nudity. It's just butts. And animated ones at that.

mmm are there bears in Scotland?

Well it is not modern day Scotland by any means. The film is supposed to be a long, long time ago. Back when people used oars to row boats, and rode horses for transportation and all that.

There used to be brown bears in Scotland and a few years ago they were talking about re-introducing them as well as wolves. I never heard any more about it though

Thats what Ive read, that some scenes are a bit too violent, and that the film in general is dark? like everything happens inside a dimly lit castle or the forest.. so probably Natalia will just fall asleep hahahaha

It's a fantastic movie. I would say the coloring is darker than Toy Story.

 yes!

They did mention that the clans got together after the Romans came. So, a long, long time ago

I really do want to see this one! Sadly, I just can't justify the 60 miles round trip it would take to get to the movie theater. :sigh:

Think we will be heading out tomorrow evening to see it. My DD Alex is a bigger Disney junkie as me!

I saw it yesterday :) Went with a friend and her three little ones - 2 mths, 4 years and 7 years (oh yes, and also my OWN children  )

I'll be writing more on it later - because it really did give me a lot to think on...but to your specific questions. Yes it's a bit dark. Yes, there are some very gairy parts (the bears are quite fierce and very loud). To give you an idea, my friend had the wee man in his sling and he slept the entire time snuggled up against her, but at one point I had BOTH girls planted firmly in my lap with their arms snaked around my neck and head (and, ahem, HAIR) staring intensely at the screen and not blinking at all. The scenes don't last long, and seem to always be tempered with a bit of humour, but they are there. The "hiney's" were a bit of an eye raiser for the mom I was with, but the girls barely even took notice.

Beautiful music, though :)

Thanks so much Becca

I think we will be waiting for it to come out in blueray so I can ff the gairy parts

I've seen the movie twice now. I love the whole movie. I love the dynamic between the mom and the daughter. I have played both roles so it just speaks to me. I am also glad to see a mom NOT die. And even better, a Disney heroine who is NOT obsessed with finding her prince.

DW Sally, DD Alex and I went to see Brave last night. Cool short at the beginning...kind of arty but good. We all really enjoyed the movie. Great characters, funny bits, lots of adventure. Loved the soundtrack as well. You need to see this one on the screen, don't wait for it to go to DVD.

Looking at the screen as the Disney Pictures trademark was going up, couldn't help thinking of our Mick. The panning from the lone bright star to the castle immediately reminded me of our mate.
