Yesterday I took Steven to his first premiership rugby match. I've escorted him to a couple of Brighton football matches and the deal was that he had to come with me to this game. Harlequins vs Saracens at Wembley Stadium. We support Saracens in this house and unfortunately they lost, however it was a fantastic day out for everyone there. Rugby atmosphere is totally different to football. Even at Brighton who are a medium sized club with no reputation for trouble there are hundreds of police on duty on match day. Yesterday for a massive rugby match I didn't see a single police officer.

Pictures are rubbish because they are on my phone. We travelled by train which was fine till Clapham Junction where someone had apparently forgotten how many people might want a train to Wembley and we were squidged into a carriage with eleventy billion other people. So squidged I couldn't reach the phone in my pocket to take a photo of the squidged carriage. Luckily everyone is there for the same reason and it's laughing and joking all the way to Wembley where the train doors open and humans explode from everywhere. :happybounce:

About 20 minute walk to the stadium and we are in and finding our awesome seats right on the half way line. :D

Teams came out and did a bit of a warm up.

Then a rock choir came out and did a bit of a sing song.

These girls were throwing tshirts into the crowd but because they threw like girls no one beyond the first four rows stood a chance of getting one.

He didn't want his picture taken.

Then he did.

Buying the giant foam wavy hand was a big mistake. :happybounce:

Then we had to hold up cards to welcome Saracens on to the pitch.

Steven was loving every moment.

And what happens when you give 25,000 people a bit of card to hold up? They make 25,000 paper planes and try to get them on to the pitch. :point:

Is it wrong to want to move house just to be near a premiership rugby team ?

Great photos! What did Steven have to say about it all at the end of the day? Did laugh at the one of him playing on the DS!

I would love to see a live rugby match sometime. Don't get it on TV much here. Watched a lot of Rugby World Cup when I was in Korea many moons ago.

Just a regular league game. It was held at Wembley with reasonably priced tickets and extra bits to get more people watching rugby.

They don't make you play.

I'd seriously love to live closer to a big rugby club. :sigh:

I'd love to go to one and it does look like a great day out for sure

My main problem was because my eyesight is so very poor and obviously I wasn't allowed to wear glasses on the pitch they used to put me in as a prop!! the idea being that by the time we had disentangled from the scrum it was time for another somwhere else, I remember one game being passed the ball on the wing and not being able to see which direction to run

Do like a good cricket match though , a lovely day drinking beer in the sunshine
