Earlier this year at the Tejon Ranch near Lebec, Calif., three of the funniest guys in show business joined forces with iconic photographer Annie Leibovitz to recreate one of the most legendary trios in Disney history, the Hitchhiking Ghosts.

This video takes you right on to the set and into the makeup trailer to discover just why these grim ghosts are grinning so much.

It's a great video, they're great guys :) but ach the photo is hardly a photo :/ given how much has been done to it, it could've been done completely digitally without anyone there at all.

I guess it's just my photographer side squirming, the overall image is atmospheric and I love the haunted mansion and everything to do with it. It's just that arghhhh, so very very artificial.

Can't argue your point,
Keith. I didn't exactly "get" the point of the photo to begin with...was it just for fun?

It's just part of a fun stylised series which she's been contracted to do. I'm sure it's exactly fitting within the scope of her project and any time you hire Leibovitch these days you know you're going to be paying for a movie set etc.

Watching the video shows how the three of them are shot in front of a false background basically.

I dunno :) perhaps I'm just a grump, but I'd have liked it if we'd seen it shot in front of the proper thing at night. Somehow it would have felt more real.
