View Full Version : A tiny bit of pixie dust

..if you happen to have some laying around.
Our pup Dakota has to have some surgery tomorrow and his Mama is a bit nervous. He had a lump/mass kind of a thing that, due to his age, we were going to leave alone, but he took it upon himself to rip it apart and do some major damage, so now he gets to have it removed.
He is 11 now, and so the idea of putting him out makes me nervous..so we are just hoping for the best.
Any good thoughts would be appreciated. :hug2:

Thank you all for the dust and good thoughts!
Dakota came through surgery fairly well. It took longer than they expected, but it looks like they got the whole tumor. He is still out right now and they are going to do a few small dental procedures since he is already out.
It does look to them to be cancer, but we are not going to send the sample out to be tested. We were fairly sure it was cancer when we first noticed the lump and we had decided not to do anything about it. He is 11 years old and already is having a few other health issues we are dealing with. We started giving him medicine for hypothyroidism and he was like a puppy again, so we figured that as long as he was happy and comfortable we will let things play out naturally. We wouldn't have done this surgery, but he did so much damage to the area that we didn't have a choice. So hopefully we will have a few more healthy years will our first baby :)

You've made some compassionate choices, Shelly. Good to know he came through surgery, and hopefully these next years will be good for him with you.
